Chapter 1052:

Cathryn was also getting ready to leave.
“Where are you headed?” Andrew asked.
“To the mall to pick up a few things. You?” Cathryn answered.
“To the office,” Andrew lied.
Cathryn nodded and said goodbye to him.
“Let Yosef drive you,” Andrew suggested.
“No need,” Cathryn said quickly. “Let Yosef take you. Margaret and I will just grab a taxi.”
In truth, she had no intention of going to the mall. She was accompanying Kyla to a pregnancy checkup and didn’t want Andrew to find out.
The moment Cathryn stepped out, Andrew’s phone rang. It was the guard monitoring Kyla’s movements.
“Mr. Brooks, Kyla has gone to the hospital.”

Andrew was halfway through getting dressed when the news reached him. Relief loosened his shoulders and he set his jacket aside. It appeared Kyla had finally decided to go through with the abortion.
“Watch her closely. Make sure she gets off that operating table safely. Afterward, take her straight back to Marlington and give her whatever she wants,” Andrew ordered.
He didn’t love her, but the child she was about to abort was his, and he intended to compensate her well for it. Once she returned to Marlington, he would send her a three-hundred-million-dollar settlement — enough to ensure she lived comfortably for the rest of her life without ever needing to work again. He considered it more than sufficient to settle his debt to her.
Andrew had barely sat down on the sofa with his coffee when the guard called again, his voice urgent.
“Is the procedure over?” Andrew asked, mug in hand.
The guard hesitated. “Kyla did come to the hospital… but she isn’t here to end the pregnancy.”
A cold sense of foreboding settled in Andrew’s chest. He narrowed his eyes. “Then why is she there?”
“She didn’t come alone,” the guard said. “She brought someone with her.”
Andrew slammed his coffee mug onto the table. “Who? Jordyn?”
The guard cast a quick glance toward the person standing with Kyla. “Mr. Brooks, you really need to come down here and see this for yourself.”
Andrew threw on his clothes and drove to the hospital, his face set in a grim line. He pictured himself confronting Kyla and Jordyn and having them both detained without delay. He burst through the hospital entrance and turned sharply to the guard. “Where are they?”
“Right outside the gynecology department,” the guard replied, shifting uncomfortably.
Andrew arrived just in time to see Kyla walking out of an examination room. He lunged forward and grabbed her arm. “How dare you defy my orders,” he hissed.
Kyla flinched. “Someone, help me!” she cried out.
“Jordyn is in enough trouble already,” Andrew said, his voice ice-cold. “She can’t save you.”
He looked past Kyla to the person standing behind her, his eyes blazing — and the moment he saw Cathryn, he went still. He had thought she was out shopping. How had she ended up here?
The guard leaned in quietly. “Mrs. Brooks came to accompany Kyla to her checkup.”
