Chapter 1051:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Cathryn climbed out of bed and stared down at him, her voice cold. “What are you doing?”
Andrew met her gaze. “I want to be with you.”
It had been a long time. With everything that had happened between them, they had grown distant in that way too.
Cathryn stepped back, her fists tight at her sides, her head lowered, saying nothing. Whenever Andrew came near her, she couldn’t stop the image that forced itself into her mind — him and Kyla, together in that bed. Rationally, she knew Andrew had been drugged and had mistaken Kyla for her.
But when she imagined it from Kyla’s side — Kyla undressing him, lying beside him — a wave of sick revulsion washed over her.
The nausea struck so suddenly that Cathryn rushed to the trash can and retched.

“What’s wrong?” Andrew asked, hurrying over with tissues and resting a gentle hand on her shoulder.
Cathryn weakly pushed him away. “I’m fine.”
She had been feeling nauseous frequently lately. Perhaps the thought of Kyla and Andrew together had cut so deeply that her body had turned it into something physical.
Andrew held out a glass of water.
Thinking he meant to touch her again, Cathryn flinched and shoved him away. The water splashed over Andrew.
Cathryn quickly grabbed a towel and held it out to him. “I’m sorry,” she said quietly.
Andrew’s eyes filled with sadness. “Why are you afraid of my touch?”
Cathryn couldn’t lie — not to herself, and not to him. She bowed her head and whispered, “Every time you touch me, I remember that night. You and Kyla, in that bed together.”
Andrew hadn’t expected that answer. He dragged a hand through his hair, a frustrated breath leaving him. The truth was, it had shaken him too. He’d had nightmares where he was kissing Cathryn, only to open his eyes and find Kyla staring back at him. He always woke drenched in sweat.
“It’s late,” Andrew said at last. “Let’s sleep. I won’t touch you.”
Cathryn lay back down. Andrew reached for the blanket, lifting a corner to pull it over himself. The moment he did, Cathryn frowned and yanked it back, tucking it tightly underneath her. She didn’t want to share it with him.
In the instant she pulled it away, Andrew caught the flicker in her eyes. His gaze darkened.
Cathryn found him repulsive.
Cathryn turned her back to Andrew and closed her eyes.
Andrew stared at her back and nearly reached out to touch her shoulder. He found himself wondering whether she truly loved him at all. They acted like a devoted couple during the day, but at night they lay in the same bed like strangers who had never met.
For the past three days, a guard had been keeping Andrew informed of Kyla’s every movement. She had either stayed home or gone out for meals and short walks, showing no sign of going to the hospital to end the pregnancy.
On the fourth day, Andrew prepared to take matters into his own hands.
