Chapter 1064:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Then she remembered Kyla’s post — that smug, boastful caption about being so consumed by passion that they hadn’t made it to the bedroom. She had actually believed Andrew when he said he never wanted Kyla to have his child. Yet the moment that child was gone, he had already promised her another.
Faced with all of it laid out before her, Cathryn found it impossible to hold on to any doubt. The fact that Kyla shed no tears over the lost baby only confirmed that Andrew’s promises to her were real.
A crowd had gathered in front of the television, trading opinions freely.
“Poor Mrs. Brooks. Not even a year married, and her husband is already cheating.”
“Well, if you marry into money, you’re expected to produce heirs. If she can’t, she shouldn’t be surprised he went elsewhere.”
“Exactly. I’m just an ordinary man, but even I’d leave a wife who couldn’t have children. A family like the Brooks needs an heir even more.”
A few voices pushed back. “He should have divorced her first. There’s no excuse for this.”
“She won’t leave, though,” someone laughed. “Why would she walk away from a rich, handsome husband?”
“It’s like a soap opera. Having to live under the same roof as his mistress — I’d die of humiliation.”
The laughter rippled through the crowd. Cathryn stood in the middle of it, feeling herself becoming the punchline — a wife who had failed at the one thing expected of her.
Kyla moved closer, her expression bright with triumph. “I have even more videos of Mr. Brooks and me. Would you like to see them?” She reached into her pocket as if to pull out her phone.

“Enough,” Cathryn said, her voice sharp and cold. A familiar wave of nausea rolled through her. The only thing she wanted was to get out of this hospital.
At that moment, Yosef stepped out of a nearby room. “Mrs. Brooks!” he greeted her.
Cathryn turned a freezing look on him. Her trust in anyone connected to Andrew had evaporated entirely. As far as she was concerned, they were all part of the same web.
“Mr. Brooks is injured,” Yosef said carefully. “Could you come in and look after him for a moment?”
Kyla felt a sudden jolt of anxiety. If Andrew and Cathryn met now, everything she had built would fall apart.
“He’s injured?” Cathryn repeated, her voice laced with contempt. “Was last night too much for him?”
Kyla let out a light laugh. “We did try some adventurous things. I danced when I was young, so I’m quite flexible. Mr. Brooks really can’t get enough of that.”
The words turned Cathryn’s stomach. She pressed her fists tight at her sides, holding herself together through sheer will. The idea of dance — something beautiful — being used as a cheap boast made the whole thing even more revolting.
“Mrs. Brooks, please—” Yosef tried again.
“Does he honestly have the nerve to ask me to take care of him?” Cathryn cut him off, her voice barely above a whisper but edged with ice.
The thought of Andrew wounding himself in Kyla’s apartment and then expecting his wife to nurse him — it was beyond insulting.
Yosef hesitated. “He really is in a bad way.”
