Chapter 1065:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
He hadn’t been able to hide his shock that morning. Andrew had looked utterly destroyed — hollow-eyed, drained of color, his arm bearing three deep gashes that were terrible to look at. To anyone who didn’t know the truth, it would have appeared as though he had barely survived the night.
Cathryn glanced toward Kyla, her expression arctic. “His new love is standing right here. Let her play nurse.”
Cathryn turned and walked away, her steps unsteady.
Behind her, Kyla wore a slow, knowing smile. She was certain that with just a little more pressure, Cathryn would shatter completely. She called her tech-genius brother and asked, “Is everything I asked you to prepare ready?”
“Easy work,” Arlo answered. “Sending it now.”
Kyla tapped open the audio clip he forwarded, satisfaction curling at the corners of her mouth. She was sure Cathryn wouldn’t make it through listening to it without falling apart.
Meanwhile, Ethan rushed into the hospital and came to a stop in front of Andrew. “Mr. Brooks, something’s gone wrong.”
“What is it?” Andrew said, lowering his bandaged arm.

Ethan froze when he saw the state of him — the hollowed exhaustion, the gauze wrapped tightly around his arm. “Mr. Brooks, what happened?”
“It’s nothing,” Andrew said.
What had happened the night before with Kyla was something he could never explain to anyone. Being deceived by the same woman twice was humiliation enough. Looking back now, there must have been something in that bottle of water. Even so, with Kyla’s baby gone, the night had — in its own brutal way — resolved everything. At last, there was nothing left standing between him and Cathryn.
Andrew tugged his sleeve down over the bandaging. “What’s going on?”
Ethan’s expression tightened. “Brooks Group’s shares have crashed. They hit limit down in under twenty minutes.”
Andrew’s brows drew together. “Did something go wrong with the new vehicle orders?”
Everything at Brooks Group had been running smoothly. There was no logical reason for such a sudden collapse.
Ethan met his eyes, his expression layered with unease. “It’s not the company’s operations causing this.”
“Then what is?”
“You.”
Andrew’s gaze sharpened. “What did you say?”
Ethan held out his phone and showed him the entertainment headlines that were consuming the news cycle beyond the hospital walls.
Andrew’s frown deepened. How had the paparazzi caught him at that exact moment?
Ethan kept his expression carefully neutral, though frustration burned quietly beneath it. This was his employer’s private affair — not his place to judge. But Andrew’s carelessness was dragging Brooks Group’s name through the mud, and that he could not stay silent about.
“Mr. Brooks, whatever you choose to do in your personal life is your business, but how could you leave the curtains open?” Ethan said, unable to hold back.
Andrew’s eyes sharpened into a glare. “Do you honestly think I’m that reckless?”
Ethan held his gaze, bitterness flickering in his eyes. The paparazzi footage had already been authenticated by their own team — it was real. And what it showed was damning: Andrew barely containing himself, on the edge of losing all control.
