Chapter 1066:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
In the past, when Brooks Group had clashed with Marcel over a contract, the stock had dipped, but that had been driven by hired agitators and had recovered once the noise died down. This was different. Andrew — the face of Brooks Group — caught in an affair, bringing another woman into his home in what appeared to be a direct challenge to his wife, then filmed in an intimate moment with that woman. The headlines cast him as a shameless betrayer, and the damage to the company’s reputation was immediate and severe. Investors were unloading their shares in waves, driving the stock toward a catastrophic collapse.
And yet Andrew himself seemed unmoved. All he could think about was whether Cathryn, now that Kyla’s baby was gone, might finally come back to him.
“Does Cathryn know about this?” Andrew asked.
He refused to believe she could see those headlines and feel nothing. If she was jealous, it meant her heart still belonged to him.
“Mrs. Brooks came to the hospital when she heard Kyla had lost the baby,” Ethan replied. “She saw Kyla and then left.”
Andrew’s brows drew together. “She didn’t see the news?”
“That’s not possible,” Ethan said. “The television outside has been replaying it continuously. What happened between you and Kyla is everywhere — it’s leading every major outlet. There’s no way Mrs. Brooks didn’t see it.”
“Send Yosef in,” Andrew said.
When Yosef entered, Andrew looked at him directly. “Did Cathryn say anything earlier?”
“I told Mrs. Brooks she should come in and look after you,” Yosef answered. “She said that since Kyla was here, Kyla could take care of you.”
Andrew’s expression darkened. “You told her I was badly hurt?”

“I did.”
“And how did she react?”
Yosef was quiet for a moment. “She walked away without looking back.”
Andrew dropped his gaze to his phone. Under any normal circumstances, Cathryn would have confronted him the moment she saw those headlines. Yet the screen stayed dark and silent.
He unlocked it and called her.
When the call connected, Andrew said, “Cathryn, Kyla’s baby is gone.” Now, at last, she could come back to him.
Cathryn’s voice was even and unhurried. “You can always give her another one.”
Andrew’s expression darkened further. What did she mean by that? What did she take him for?
Andrew ground his teeth and shot back, “Fine. Kyla can bear another child. We’ll have another baby.”
He was furious beyond measure. Rumors about him and Kyla had already spread everywhere, yet Cathryn — his wife — was the one urging him to have another child with her. What did she take him for? A means to give Kyla what she wanted? Did she feel no fear at all that, given enough time, he might actually grow attached to Kyla?
Cathryn felt the words drive straight through her chest like a blade. Overwhelmed, she ended the call.
With the power Andrew wielded, silencing the press would be effortless — the video could disappear from the internet within the hour if he chose. Yet the footage of him and Kyla kept circulating, spreading wider with each passing minute. He appeared entirely unconcerned, or perhaps he even welcomed it, treating it as the perfect opportunity to give Kyla a rightful place beside him.
Cathryn curled her hands into fists and forced down the ache tearing at her chest. In the end, she could only blame herself for pushing Kyla into Andrew’s arms.
Back at the hospital, Ethan turned to Andrew. “Should I have the video removed from the internet? It might limit the damage to Brooks Group.”
