Chapter 1068:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
As she did, a sharp, stabbing pain twisted through her lower abdomen, followed by a warm sensation spreading downward. She looked down and saw blood — dark and spreading beneath her.
What was happening? Why did it hurt like this? Was she dying?
The first person who came to her mind was Andrew. She grabbed her phone and dialed his number.
When Andrew saw her name on the screen, a satisfied smile curved his lips. So the online gossip had worked — Cathryn was jealous. He waited a moment, then declined the call. It seemed she had finally realized her mistake and was ready to come back and apologize. He thought, with quiet amusement, that he would answer only if she called a second time.
But the next call wasn’t from Cathryn. It was Margaret.
A strange, cold dread dropped through Andrew’s chest. He answered immediately.
Margaret’s voice came through in broken, trembling fragments. “Bad news — Mrs. Brooks is bleeding!”
Andrew’s pupils shrank. “Cathryn is injured? Where is she bleeding?”
“I don’t know,” Margaret cried. “The bed is covered in blood — we’re already in the ambulance—”
Margaret hadn’t known what to make of it at first and had assumed it was simply Cathryn’s period — but the blood had kept coming, soaking through the sheets faster than she could process. The sight had nearly made her faint. Fortunately, Cathryn had kept her composure long enough to tell her to call for help, and the ambulance had arrived quickly.

Andrew was already outside the hospital. He ended the call, his expression tense and tight. “Turn around. Back to the hospital.”
The driver yanked the wheel hard, and the car sped toward Olekgan Hospital.
By the time Andrew arrived, Cathryn was being lifted from the ambulance. Her face was drained of all color, her slight body looking as though the slightest thing might break her apart entirely.
“Cathryn.” Andrew rushed forward and seized her hand.
Her fingers were ice cold. He looked down and saw that the white bedding beneath her had already been soaked through with blood. A wave of lightheadedness struck him.
Cathryn lay motionless, her eyes closed, completely unresponsive — not the slightest trace of vitality in her pale face.
A crushing dread closed around Andrew’s chest. For the first time, the horrifying thought that he might lose her forever forced its way into his mind.
“Doctor!” he called out urgently.
The hospital director had already received word that Cathryn was hemorrhaging severely and had hurried over with several of the most respected physicians on staff.
“Mr. Brooks, please be assured — we will spare no effort to save Mrs. Brooks,” the director said.
Andrew stood in tense silence as Cathryn was rushed away on a gurney and taken straight into the operating theater.
He turned to Margaret. “What happened? Why is she bleeding like this?”
Margaret described how she had heard Cathryn call out from the bedroom, and when she rushed in, she found her covered in blood, the bleeding growing worse by the second.
Andrew’s expression tightened. “What happened before it started? People don’t hemorrhage without cause.”
