Chapter 1137:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Each time she returned, Candice cast a furtive glance around, mindful of any prying eyes that could be watching her every move. This sense of vigilance had gripped her since the encounter with Madilyn, making her increasingly cautious.
Entering the living room, Candice firmly shut the door behind her. Inside, Anna and Brylee were seated, the latter cradling Fulton in her arms.
Seeing Candice, Anna rushed to greet her with a question, “Candice, you left ages ago. What’s kept you out so late?”
“I had a meeting and some shopping to do, which made me tardy,” Candice explained as she deposited her haul.
The heavy bags under Brylee’s eyes did not escape Candice’s keen observation.
“Brylee, those dark circles under your eyes tell quite the story. You need to grab a bite and hit the hay. I’ll take charge of Fulton from tonight till tomorrow morning. You can’t go on like this. It’s a recipe for exhaustion.”
Brylee rubbed her weary eyes, acknowledging her fatigue.
“But you’ve had a long day too, Candice. How will you manage taking care of the baby? Fulton had a good night’s sleep in the past two days, but he’s been crying incessantly during the day. From my experience, it seems like he’s struggling to digest what he’s been eating. We need to figure this out.”
Candice took a step closer, scooping Fulton from Brylee’s arms. She gestured toward the table.
“I’ve already thought of that. I visited a pharmacy earlier and consulted a pharmacist who provided me with some remedies. The items in the blue box can be mixed with his formula to aid digestion, while the white box contains probiotics to be administered three times daily. These should help alleviate Fulton’s indigestion.”
With Fulton nestled in her arms, Candice extended her hand, gently rubbing his little tummy as she continued, “Go have some food and get some rest, Brylee. I’ve got this covered. Otherwise, we’ll all be running on fumes.”
Brylee, recognizing the wisdom of Candice’s words, offered no further resistance. “I’ve already eaten, so I’ll head to bed now.”

“Alright, go get some well-deserved rest. You’ve been running on empty for too long,” Candice nodded.
That said, Brylee turned around, yawned, and walked inside the room. She was ready to drop. She planned to take a shower and go to bed directly.
After Brylee retreated to her room, Candice expertly blended the digestive aid powder into Fulton’s formula, feeding him a few ounces. She followed up with gentle pats on his back.
“Fulton had a milk mishap today, which left Brylee pretty drained. She had to launder the bedding and clean everything up. When I got back, I made sure to swap out the linens. She must be utterly exhausted,” Anna said helplessly.
“Candice, how about we hire another nanny?” Candice let out a weary sigh.
“I’m with you on that, Anna. The idea of hiring some extra help has crossed my mind countless times. We’ve tried that route before. But how many caregivers have we gone through? Fulton, being the discerning little one he is, refused all of them. He’s incredibly particular, and no one else seems to meet his standards. I’ve counted. We’ve been through roughly thirty nannies. Only Brylee and I seem to pass muster. He has my hands tied.”
“You’re right,” Anna agreed. “How about we bring in a part-time worker to handle the cooking and household chores, thus lightening Brylee’s load? Candice, I really can’t help worrying about you.”
