Chapter 2369:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
After receiving the call from law enforcement, Johan immediately headed to their office, knowing they would not summon him without a significant reason.
“Sir, please examine the clues we’ve gathered. I believe they’re substantial enough to draw a conclusion,” the officer said upon his arrival.
Johan meticulously reviewed the report, scrutinizing every line and photograph.
As he studied the details, the officer explained, “Based on the evidence, it’s highly likely that Rupert and his children are safe and possibly within our city. However, all information must remain confidential. You must not disclose it.” The officer looked uneasy as he continued, “If you weren’t affiliated with the embassy and didn’t have internal support from our agency, you wouldn’t even have access to this report.” Johan understood the sensitivity of the information and contemplated his next steps.
“May I at least inform Annabel about the progress? If she continues to wait without any news, it might cause further distress. She’s deeply involved in this case, and I will instruct her to keep the details confidential,” Johan proposed.
The law enforcer hesitated before responding, “You can update Annabel on our progress, but refrain from sharing specific evidence. That could complicate matters. As long as the communication is limited to general updates and ensures confidentiality, it should be fine.”
Relieved, Johan expressed his gratitude and hurried back to his car.

Eager to share the hopeful news, he immediately called Annabel.
As soon as she answered, Johan reassured her, “You need to stay calm. We have strong indications that Rupert and the two babies might all be alive!”
Upon hearing Johan’s words, Annabel’s expression brightened with a flicker of hope. She had been on the brink of leaving. Her visa had expired, but Johan’s timely call breathed new life into her circumstances.
After ending the call, Annabel hastily made her way to the embassy. Upon arrival, she found Johan waiting at the gate.
Approaching him eagerly, Annabel asked, “Did the individual agree to undergo the DNA test?” Her question was tinged with desperation, infused with the anticipation of good news.
Johan nodded, meeting Annabel’s gaze as he relayed, “He visited this morning, confirmed his consent, and scheduled the test for today.”
Overwhelmed with relief, Annabel couldn’t help but shed tears of joy. This was the first glimmer of hope she had experienced in a long time, giving her a real reason to anticipate a positive outcome. Taking hold of Johan’s hand, she followed him into the embassy, where she saw the man with two children in his arms. Their resemblance to her children made her feel a strong sense of familiarity and connection.
Eager to embrace the children, Annabel moved forward, but the man stopped her and reminded her of their agreement.
“I will undergo the DNA test, but if the results show that they are not your children, you must compensate me for the harassment I’ve endured during this time,” he cautioned.
Without hesitation, Annabel assured him, “Rest assured, regardless of the outcome, I will make amends for any inconvenience caused.”
