Chapter 2386:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
They were eager for a chance to cash out, and even the major shareholders were growing restless.
They mulled over cutting their losses, wondering if now was finally the time to exit.
Annabel set the acquisition date, but on the big day, things took an unexpected turn.
Media outlets were all set to cover Annabel’s takeover of Rupert’s company, eagerly awaiting the signing moment. Flora was a bundle of nerves because there was no Plan B in sight.
Meanwhile, Annabel’s company staff were pumped and ready to pop open the champagne once the contract was signed and sealed.

Annabel sat at the table, eyeing Flora as if she already had the win in the bag. With all eyes on her, she was poised to snatch up Rupert’s company.
Suddenly, there was a twist. Rupert himself walked in. The cameras all swiveled toward him.
“Rupert, are you here to save your company or to sell it to Annabel?”
Rupert scowled at the reporter who posed the question, his tone icy as he responded, “I am injecting cash back into my company. There is no way it’s going down. I appointed Flora, and she has got my back. I trust her. Anyone messing with her will answer to me.”
Everyone was shaken. They had been waiting for the deal to go down, so this was a bombshell.
Nobody had seen this coming. It was a total curveball.
But the reporters did not care about the shock; they just wanted the juicy scoop, and the bigger, the better.
While most lenses were on Rupert, some turned toward Annabel as well. She felt utterly humiliated.
Rupert had gone rogue, dropping the news intentionally without giving her any warning beforehand.
“Since you’re not ready, let’s hit pause for now,” Annabel said, without so much as a second glance at Rupert. With that, she left.
Sticking around would only lead to more embarrassment. It was pointless.
She simmered with anger but swallowed it down.
Bruce, catching wind of Rupert’s move, felt like they finally had a lifeline.
“We have to hand it to Rupert. You lot are useless. You should thank the stars for Rupert.”
Bruce beamed, knowing the company was safe.
Flora and the others kept quiet, but their smiles said it all.
“Now, shape up. If we tank again, Rupert might not swoop in to save it next time. He might kick you all out. There is no way we’re dragging our company down again.”
“…through the mud again,” Bruce was dishing out advice, while Flora was feeling victorious. She had listened carefully to every word Rupert had spoken. Thanks to him, she had ammunition against the tax evasion rumors.
No matter what haters said, she could say with confidence,
“Rupert trusts me.”
Take that, rumor-mongers!
Annabel had been scrambling for a fix lately.
Although she harbored anger, the current situation was very urgent.
Even if she thought about backing off, she had to figure out how. But for now, she was full steam ahead.
