Chapter 2397:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Erica, seated beside Annabel, remained quiet, as if disinterested in the unfolding drama.
Annabel walked out of the villa with a sense of relief. She wasn’t as worried about her children’s safety anymore because she knew someone else would be more worried than she was.
As expected, Bruce went upstairs with his cane.
He rapped forcefully on the door of Flora’s room and demanded, “Open the door and explain everything clearly. I want to know what’s going on.”
Bruce persisted with his knocking for half an hour until Flora finally relented and opened the door. Erica stood nearby, quietly observing.
“Explain this to me. When you wanted to return home, I agreed. When you wanted to work in Rupert’s company and take on his role, I supported you. I cleaned up the mess in the company, handling all those cases of corruption and bribery for you. I endured it all so you could have a purpose and not sit at home with nothing to do all day.”
Having only one daughter, Bruce naturally wanted the best for her.
“Now tell me why you kidnapped those two children,” he demanded. Even if he wasn’t fond of Annabel in the least, he wasn’t going to risk his grandchildren’s lives.

Flora slumped onto the dressing table, knocking everything on it to the floor in frustration. “Don’t ask me. I only took my own children. What have I done wrong now?”
Bruce was even more confused. “What do you mean, your children? What are you talking about?”
Erica interjected, “Dad, it’s possible that Cathy’s children aren’t hers but Flora’s.”
Bruce grew increasingly anxious at that. “Didn’t those children die at sea? It’s not easy to find them. Who are their actual parents?”
After Rupert jumped into the sea to save his two children, who had been thrown in, and all three went missing, Bruce was too distraught to eat, shutting himself away from everyone. It was only when Annabel brought the children back that he began to regain some composure.
Flora knew she couldn’t keep her secrets from Bruce any longer. With a heavy heart, she confessed, “Dad, I have to tell you the truth. I was the one who asked Cathy to kidnap the children. I couldn’t bear the thought of my own children growing up without parents. I also warned Cathy, asking her to claim that they were her own children.”
Bruce’s face turned pale. He staggered, clutching the armrest for support. “Tell me everything,” he demanded, his voice trembling with fury.
Even Erica, who stood silently beside them, was taken aback. She had never imagined such ruthlessness in Flora before.
Flora took a deep breath and continued, “When Rupert disappeared, it was because of me. I locked him in a small, dark room. I drugged him so no one could find him. If he hadn’t escaped, he wouldn’t have seen the children again.”
She had orchestrated everything meticulously, never anticipating that Cathy would choose to jump into the sea at the last moment. Cathy’s love for Rupert had driven her to desperate measures.
