Chapter 1214: (END)

The knife was stained with blood.
“Blaise!”
Kimberly’s pupils constricted with terror. Disregarding her injuries, she lunged forward desperately, only to be suddenly tackled to the ground by Chris.
Gunshots shattered the silence, startling nearby birds into frantic flight.
Kimberly’s gaze snapped upward to find Eulalia standing motionless, the knife still clutched in her hand. A perfect crimson circle had appeared on her forehead, her eyes wide with disbelief.
The woman who had been moments from delivering a fatal blow now tumbled to the ground with a dull thud. Her vacant eyes remained fixed in Kimberly’s direction, her body trembling briefly before going still.
As if possessed, Kimberly shoved Chris away and scrambled across the rough terrain to Levi. She fell to her knees beside his blood-soaked form, watching helplessly as crimson spread across his shirt. Her vision blurred with tears that spilled down her cheeks in relentless streams.
“Blaise… why are you so foolish? You don’t have to save me!”
Death’s shadow had already claimed Levi’s complexion, leaving his face ashen and drawn. Each breath came as a visible struggle, yet he gazed at Kimberly with profound tenderness. With tremendous effort, he raised a bloodied hand toward her face.
Kimberly leaned forward, pressing his trembling fingers against her tear-stained cheek. “Blaise…”
“I’m sorry, Kimberly, I can’t protect you anymore. Don’t cry… I’m not foolish. I have a terminal illness, with limited time left, destined to die sooner or later… If I can use my life to ensure your safety, it’s worth it. Don’t cry. You look so beautiful in your wedding dress… Too bad, the person you’re marrying isn’t me.” His words emerged as a broken whisper. “Kimberly, promise me that in the next life, I’ll be the one you love.”
Fresh tears welled in Kimberly’s eyes, blurring the world around her. She nodded with desperate conviction. “Okay.”
It was the first time she made a promise to Levi.

A faint smile touched his lips one last time. His eyelids slowly drifted closed as his hand grew cold and slipped from her grasp, falling lifelessly to the ground.
When Lowe arrived with his men, the scene that greeted him was one of devastating aftermath—two bodies sprawled across the rocky terrain, and Kimberly kneeling amidst the carnage, her wedding dress stained crimson, her eyes hollow voids of grief.
Chris approached her with measured steps, gently draping his suit jacket over her trembling shoulders. He crouched beside her, his voice low and gentle. “Don’t blame yourself. His death isn’t your fault.” With careful movements, he drew Kimberly into his embrace, feeling the dampness of her tears seeping through his shirt. A soft sigh escaped him as he patted her back.
“It’s all over now. Once you’ve finished crying, we’ll give him a proper burial.”
From a respectful distance, Lowe observed the intimate scene, his heart heavy with an ache he couldn’t voice. Yet amid his pain, clarity emerged—it was time for him to step away.
“Kimberly, you must be happy,” he thought with quiet resignation, then turned and walked away without a backward glance.
Kimberly remained lost in her grief, tears flowing unchecked until her body had no more to give. As the storm of emotion gradually subsided, she slowly lifted her head. Her red-rimmed eyes met Chris’s gentle, pained gaze. “Will you leave me?” she asked.
“I won’t.” Chris tenderly tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear, his eyes holding steady with unwavering conviction. “I’ll always be by your side, protecting you, being your knight, and honoring Blaise’s memory by being there for you, accompanying you through the rest of your life.”
