Chapter 464:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“No need. It’s short. It will dry soon.” As Connor spoke, he placed his right hand on her shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze.
She remained still, simply watching him through the mirror.
A few seconds passed before she suddenly turned around and lifted her hand, her fingertips brushing over the faint shadow of stubble along his jaw.
“It feels a little prickly. Do you want me to shave it for you?”

Connor caught her wrist and pressed her palm against his cheek. Then he tilted his head slightly, rubbing into her hand with quiet dependence.
“No. I will do it myself tomorrow.”
Joslyn did not answer. She only looked at him, a faint trace of disappointment passing through her eyes.
“Josy.” Unease tightened in Connor’s chest.
“What?”
“Why don’t you do it for me, then? I still have work tomorrow, and with one hand, it will not be very convenient. I might not have enough time.”
Joslyn’s hand paused, her fingertips still resting against his jaw.
The short, coarse stubble pricked lightly against her skin.
“Okay.”
The two of them returned to the bathroom.
“The razor is in my toiletry bag, inside the cabinet above.” Connor leaned against the vanity counter and lifted his chin slightly to indicate the direction.
Joslyn stood on tiptoe and opened the mirrored cabinet above the sink.
Their toiletries were arranged neatly inside, though her skincare products clearly took up most of the space.
In an inconspicuous corner, she soon noticed a dark blue leather toiletry bag. It was obviously Connor’s.
She took it down and unzipped it.
There were only a few things inside: shaving foam, a small bottle of aftershave, and a manual razor with separately packed blades. The razor felt unexpectedly solid and heavy in her hand.
Joslyn paused for a moment before turning back to Connor with the razor in hand. “You use a manual razor? I thought you used an electric one. That was the only reason I offered to help.”
Connor had always been decisive and efficient, the sort of man who should have preferred the convenience of an electric razor. Joslyn had never expected him to insist on something so old-fashioned and precise.
“I am used to it,” he said, his gaze dropping to the razor in her hand. His tone remained calm, as though it was the most natural thing in the world. “Electric razors do not shave close enough. A blade is cleaner. Faster, too.”
It was not exactly a strange habit, only a small preference of his that most people would never notice.
On days when work pressed in too tightly, he would occasionally use an electric razor just to save time. But whenever he had the choice, he still preferred the sharp, clean sweep of a manual blade against his skin.
Joslyn lowered her eyes to the razor, and then looked at the faint shadow along Connor’s jaw. The confidence she had felt a moment ago quietly disappeared, replaced by a sudden nervousness.
“I need to learn first,” she said honestly. “I am afraid I might hurt you.”
