Chapter 465:

After a brief pause, she added with rare caution, “Should I look up a tutorial before trying?”
Connor let out a quiet chuckle, the sound vibrating in his chest with a teasing edge. “No need to make it so hard. I’ll show you. It’s simple.”
He motioned for Joslyn to turn on the water and adjust it until it was warm. Then he squeezed shaving foam into his palm and rubbed it until it turned thick and creamy.
“Use a warm towel first. It’ll soften the beard,” Connor said.
Joslyn followed his instructions. She took a clean face towel, soaked it in warm water, wrung it until it was only half-wet, and then gently laid it over the lower half of his face.
Warm mist drifted up, softening the hard cut of his jaw. He closed his eyes and let her handle it.

After about a minute or two, Joslyn lifted the towel away.
The skin on the lower half of Connor’s face was faintly flushed. “Now spread the foam evenly.”
Joslyn scooped up some of the soft white lather with her fingertips and carefully smoothed it over his chin, around his lips, and along his sideburns, little by little.
Her movements were impossibly gentle.
Soon, a clean white layer hid the bluish shadow of stubble beneath it.
“Now, take the razor,” Connor said, patiently guiding her.
Joslyn picked it up. It had more weight to it than she expected, and she carefully fitted in a fresh blade.
“Keep the angle low. Shave in the direction the hair grows. Be gentle and don’t press too hard.” Connor continued instructing her, lifting his chin slightly to make it easier for her.
Joslyn drew in a slow breath and placed the blade against the side of his cheek near his ear, where the beard was lighter.
She held her breath, steadied her wrist, and shaved downward in one careful stroke.
The blade skimmed across his skin with the faintest whisper. Foam and stubble came away together, revealing smooth, clean skin underneath.
Her first try was a success. No blood.
Only then did Joslyn loosen up a little. She was starting to get the hang of it.
She kept going, each pass steadier than the last, her full attention fixed on the razor in her hand as if she did not dare blink.
She worked from his cheek to his jaw, then above his lip, and finally to his chin.
Connor readily tipped his head back a little more. When she reached his chin, Joslyn paused. The skin there was thinner, and the curve was harder to handle.
“Be even gentler here. Use your fingers to stretch the skin,” Connor murmured.
Joslyn nodded. She adjusted her grip with even greater care, held her breath again, and eased the blade forward.
At last, the last traces of foam and stubble were gone.
Joslyn set the razor aside and slowly let out a breath.
She picked up the damp towel she had prepared earlier and gently wiped the remaining foam from his face.
