Chapter 468:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“Think about it. Why else was Clare so bent on targeting Joslyn if not because she was jealous? Joslyn showed up, got the best projects right away, and even secured a spot in the competition without any trouble. If there wasn’t some special relationship behind it, who would believe that?”
“When you put it that way, maybe you’re right. Still, Joslyn really is beautiful, and she has that elegant air about her. If there really is something between her and Trenton, then I guess it wouldn’t be that surprising…”
“Something? Please. I heard that on the day of the last team-building event, someone saw Trenton downstairs getting handsy with her. There’s no way that kind of relationship is simple.”
“Wow, Joslyn’s really something, then. Clinging to Trenton on one side while destroying her rival on the other. Now that Clare is gone, doesn’t that make Joslyn the undisputed queen of the design department? From now on, won’t all the good resources go straight to her?”
“Exactly. We’d better be extra polite to her from now on. Who knows? One day she might really become the boss’s wife…”

“Wait, hold on. Didn’t Joslyn say she’s already married?”
“Wasn’t there a rumor before that the man she married was Trenton?”
The two women grew more and more animated as they talked.
Inside the stall, Joslyn listened quietly, the dragging ache in her lower abdomen becoming more noticeable by the second.
So this was what some people thought of her. To them, her effort and ability meant nothing. She had only gotten ahead through some so-called special relationship.
She didn’t want to swallow it anymore, and she had no intention of pretending she hadn’t heard.
The stall lock clicked open.
The two coworkers gossiping excitedly by the sinks jolted and whipped around.
The door to the innermost stall swung open, and Joslyn stepped out.
Her face was calm, her pace unhurried. She walked to the sink beside them, turned on the faucet, and washed her hands at an easy pace.
In the mirror, her lovely side profile looked as composed as ever. Her eyes were clear, without a trace of embarrassment or anger at being the center of their gossip.
The two women stiffened on the spot, their faces lost all color as they exchanged panicked looks.
They had never imagined Joslyn was in there the whole time. Which meant she had heard every single word.
Oh no. This was bad.
A restroom really was the worst possible place to gossip.
Joslyn shut off the faucet, pulled out a paper towel, and carefully dried the water from her hands.
Then she turned to face them.
“Finished talking?”
The two women bobbed their heads like pecking chickens. Getting caught badmouthing someone to their face was humiliating enough.
They weren’t completely shameless, after all. “We’re done,” they said awkwardly.
