Chapter 467:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“Morning,” Joslyn replied with a nod before heading toward the work area.
Most of the office was already full. The low hum of conversation dipped for a second when she walked in.
Over the weekend, news of Clare being fired for plagiarism and falsely accusing a coworker had spread through the company like wildfire.
As the one Clare had targeted and the one who came out of it vindicated, Joslyn had naturally become the center of everyone’s discussion.
She kept her gaze ahead, walked straight to her desk, set down her bag and coat, turned on her computer, logged into the system, and got to work.
At noon, Joslyn went downstairs with two teammates she was on good terms with to try the new café that served light meals.
When they returned, there was still a little over half an hour left before the afternoon shift began.
Feeling thirsty, Joslyn got up and went to the break room for water.

She had just filled her cup and was about to head back when a faint heaviness settled low in her abdomen, the familiar sign that her period might be starting.
Her cycle was never regular, sometimes early and sometimes late, so she always kept sanitary pads in her desk just in case. Right now, that habit felt especially wise.
She took one and headed for the restroom at the far end of the hallway.
The company restroom had private stalls and a simple, spotless design, with a faint trace of fragrance lingering in the air.
Joslyn stepped into the innermost stall and closed the door behind her.
Not long after, footsteps and voices drifted in from outside. Two other female employees had come in, probably from Admin or Marketing. Their voices sounded vaguely familiar, but Joslyn could not match them to faces.
Apparently not realizing anyone was inside, they stood at the sinks touching up their makeup while chatting.
One employee asked, “Hey, did you hear? Clare Simpson from the design department really got fired. First plagiarism, then framing a coworker. That’s vicious.”
The other employee sneered, “Heard about it? The email was sent to every staff member in the company. Clare’s reputation is completely ruined in this field now. Who would risk hiring her after this?”
“Honestly, she asked for it. She always looked so proper, and with that Mrs. Newman title, too. Who would’ve guessed she’d be that vicious? But tell me, why was she so obsessed with going after Joslyn anyway? Just because Joslyn is better than her?”
“See? That’s what you don’t know.” The other woman’s voice dropped, deliberately mysterious. “From what I’ve heard, this wasn’t just simple competition at work.”
“Oh? What else is there? Come on, tell me.”
“I only heard bits and pieces from someone in the design department, but apparently Joslyn and Trenton… might have something going on.”
“Seriously? Hasn’t Trenton always been single? He looks like such a decent, straight-laced guy.”
