Chapter 476:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
A faint smile crossed her face. “While waiting for my food, I’d usually sit here and stare at the wall without thinking about anything.”
Connor couldn’t help imagining the scene. He pictured a younger, more carefree Joslyn quietly sitting at this very table with a plate of pasta in front of her. Sometimes she was probably with friends, and sometimes she was all alone. Those memories belonged to a part of her life he had never shared.
“I guess you really love the food here,” he remarked.
“I really do.” Her smile softened as the warm light reflected in her eyes. “The flavor is simple and comforting. It always reminds me of my grandmother’s cooking. Rosa also has an amazing memory. Whenever I’d come here late at night after staying up to finish a design, she’d secretly add an extra fried egg to my plate.”
Just then, Rosa returned carrying two plates of pasta. Bright green vegetables, five slices of bacon, and a perfectly golden fried egg completed the meal.
“Your pasta’s here,” Rosa murmured with a warm smile as she carefully placed the plates on the table. “Be careful. It’s still very hot.” Instead of leaving right away, she looked at Joslyn and Connor with gentle, motherly affection before adding, “Take your time and enjoy your meal.”

Joslyn lowered her eyes and slowly picked up her fork. As she gently stirred the pasta, warm steam drifted upward and lightly brushed against her eyelashes.
Without saying a word, Connor quietly moved the fried egg and every slice of bacon from his own plate onto hers. “Eat a little more.”
Joslyn slowly lifted her eyes and looked at him through the rising steam.
Her lower abdomen was still aching with a dull pain. Even so, the warmth rising from the plate seemed to spread through her chest, filling her heart with a quiet sense of comfort.
Joslyn abruptly remembered a movie she’d seen not long ago. The female lead had been eating shaved ice with a male friend she had subtle chemistry with, each holding a bowl of their own.
The shop’s sun-dried apricots were famous, and the heroine loved them. Yet the man beside her, saying he only wanted a bite, ended up fishing every single piece out of her bowl.
After that, whatever crush she had on him died on the spot.
It really was a trivial thing. It wasn’t about guarding food, and it wasn’t about a few pieces of fruit either. It was about whether someone knew how to be considerate. Some people handled those tiny moments well; others only made themselves annoying.
“This is way too much. There’s no way I can finish it,” Joslyn said.
The restaurant already served huge portions, and with so many extra toppings added in, Joslyn truly couldn’t finish the whole plate.
Connor lifted his eyes at that. “Eat first. If there’s anything left, I’ll finish it for you.”
Joslyn smiled and shook her head. Sometimes this man was considerate to an almost ridiculous degree.
