Chapter 480:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
When they walked out of the examination room, Connor’s left arm was finally free from the heavy cast. The lightweight brace felt much less restrictive, though his wrist remained stiff. He slowly flexed his fingers, opening and closing them as if testing muscles that had forgotten how to move.
“Does it hurt?” Joslyn asked.
“Not really.” Connor tried rotating his wrist, only to flinch slightly. “Just stiff.”
Joslyn immediately noticed. “It’s been immobilized for weeks,” she said gently. “Of course it’ll feel stiff. Don’t force it. It’ll loosen up little by little.”
By the time they left the hospital, night had already settled over the city.
“Hungry?” Connor asked. “What would you like?”

“Let’s eat at home,” Joslyn replied. “The housekeeper’s probably already prepared dinner, and since your cast just came off, you should stick to something light.”
Connor smiled. “Whatever you say.”
The driver was already waiting beside the car in the parking lot. As soon as he spotted them, he quickly opened the rear door.
After they got in, Joslyn reached into her bag, pulled out a thermos, unscrewed the lid, and handed it to Connor. “Here. Drink some water.”
Connor took a sip. The water was pleasantly warm. “Thanks.”
She looked at him with amusement. “What are you thanking me for?”
She took the thermos back and drank from it herself before capping it again.
“Oh, that reminds me.” Her eyes brightened as she spoke. “There are so many good places around Dafson University. There’s this little pizza shop, an amazing barbecue place, and a bakery that makes the best bread pudding I’ve ever tasted.”
The more she talked, the more animated she became. “We should go try them all sometime.”
Connor watched her with quiet affection. Seeing her so excited softened something deep inside him.
“Alright,” he said, his voice gentle. “We’ll visit every one of them.”
That evening, Connor went straight to the study after dinner. The company still demanded his attention, and with whatever Evelyn was planning next, there was barely a moment to catch his breath.
By the time he finished working and returned to the bedroom after washing up, Joslyn was already lying in bed with her back to him. She seemed to be sleeping peacefully.
A brand-new sling rested neatly on the bedside table. It was the one they’d bought at the hospital. She had placed it there so he wouldn’t forget to wear it.
Connor picked it up and tried putting it on himself, but doing it one-handed proved far more awkward than he’d expected.
“Let me.” Joslyn’s sleepy voice broke the silence.
Connor turned. She had already sat up, though he hadn’t noticed. Her hair was slightly messy, and her eyes were still hazy with sleep.
“Did I wake you?” he asked.
She shook her head. “I wasn’t in a deep sleep.”
Throwing back the blanket, she slipped out of bed and walked over. Gently taking the sling from his hand, she said, “Raise your arm a little.”
Connor did as she asked. Carefully, she slipped the sling over his neck, adjusted the fabric, settled his injured arm comfortably against his chest, and tied the knot.
