Chapter 1185:

With those words, he pulled her into a tight embrace.
Yvonne, feeling slightly suffocated, gently pushed against him, laughing softly. He loosened his hold instantly, his expression softening with a mix of affection and relief.
Under the warm glow of the candles, he lifted her chin. Their eyes met—hers shining with emotion, his full of love he could no longer contain.
Then he kissed her. It wasn’t rushed or desperate—it was deep, slow, and full of unspoken promises.
A kiss not just of passion, but of devotion. Of everything they had been through and everything they were about to face together.
Having won Yvonne’s heartfelt “yes,” Norton made up his mind—he would give her the most extraordinary wedding imaginable.
Soon, Yvonne noticed something strange. Norton was becoming increasingly busy. He would leave early in the morning and come home late—sometimes even later than she did. She had no idea what he was up to.
Behind the scenes, in his office, Norton sat hunched over a table, reviewing wedding dress designs Leif had gathered. One by one, he shook his head. “No,” he muttered, flipping through another sketch. “None of these will do. They’re too plain. Too safe. She’d never like them.”
He sighed, frustrated. How could these uninspired designs ever suit someone like Yvonne?
Leif, standing nearby, pinched the bridge of his nose. “May I suggest… just ask Mrs. Burke what she wants?”
Norton frowned, thoughtful for a moment, but then dismissed the idea. “No. You can go now—I’ll design it myself.” He wanted to surprise Yvonne.
Letting out a sigh of relief, Leif gave a small nod. At least this meant he wouldn’t have to hunt through endless bridal catalogs anymore. He had already shown Norton every trending design on the market, and none had made the cut.
Now, Norton took matters into his own hands. He sketched in every spare moment—during meetings, late at night, early mornings. He became completely absorbed in the process, so much so that he often forgot to eat or rest.
And Yvonne noticed. Each night, she would wait, only to watch the hours tick by with no sign of him.

One evening, after work, she stepped out of her building and glanced around, expecting Norton’s car—but it wasn’t there.
A small pang of disappointment settled in her chest. She hesitated, then called Leif. “Leif, do you know what Norton’s been so busy with lately? He’s barely around. It’s starting to drive me a little crazy.”
Leif was caught off guard but quickly collected himself. “He’s working on something important. You’ll understand when the time’s right.”
“Oh?” Yvonne said playfully. “So now even you’re keeping secrets from me?”
Leif stayed silent, and Yvonne gave up pushing. She ended the call and went to bed early that night, convinced Norton would wake her when he returned. But when she opened her eyes the next morning, the other side of the bed was still cold and empty.
A quiet ache bloomed in her chest.
