Chapter 577:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Renee didn’t know what to say at first. Then she remembered how he liked calling her “baby” whenever they got carried away.
“It doesn’t seem like you want kids, though,” she muttered under her breath.
After all, Marcelo was an impatient man.
“You’re right. I don’t like kids,” he said, kissing the curve of her neck as his hands slipped beneath her clothes. “But I will love the children you give me.”
One good thing about their small house was that the bedroom was only a few steps down the hall from the study.
Renee was surprised he bothered to carry her there.
Wasn’t he usually fond of the thrill of doing it anywhere but the bedroom?
It wasn’t until she saw him open the nightstand drawer and take out the condoms inside that she understood.
“You…” She reached out quickly to stop him.

“Fine,” she said, forcing herself to sound steady. “Just for today, I’ll give you the privilege of skipping the rubber.”
She saw his gaze darken.
His reaction was immediate, obvious in the subtle tension that ran through his body.
Marcelo let out a low chuckle, his voice rough. “Are you trying to spoil me, baby? I must be dreaming.”
Paul still hadn’t woken up. And with Gary refusing to hand power over to Marcelo, King Group was stuck in a stalemate. Marcelo let the board of directors argue among themselves and went about his days as usual, as if nothing earth-shattering had happened within the King family.
But Renee knew the truth. No matter how powerful or cold he seemed on the surface, the recent events had affected him.
“You wish,” she shot back, lifting her chin in defiance. “You only get one chance tonight.”
“All right.” Marcelo smiled and brushed a kiss against her lips. “Remember, baby… you’re the one who asked for it.”
Only one chance.
Renee had no idea what those simple words did to him.
Much later that night, she finally realized she had practically issued Marcelo a challenge.
And Marcelo made sure the entire night was worth his while. Renee was so exhausted that she dozed off in his arms while he held her upright under the shower.
When she woke the next day, the other side of the bed was empty. A note sat on the nightstand, written in stern, familiar handwriting.
“Good afternoon. I’ve left for the airport. I will see you the day after tomorrow.”
Good afternoon?
Renee glanced at her phone. It was five minutes to twelve. Technically, it was afternoon. It was all that rascal’s fault.
Marcelo hadn’t let her sleep until the sky was already paling with dawn. She stayed in bed for a few more minutes before dragging herself to the bathroom to freshen up.
She was wearing nothing but a thin slip dress, leaving most of her skin exposed. As expected, her neck and arms were dotted with hickeys.
Renee rubbed her face and groaned as scenes from the previous night flashed through her mind. But when she finally looked at herself in the mirror, a small smile still tugged at her lips.
“Oh my God… Renee, are you out of your mind? I can’t believe you were so reckless.” She let out a long, defeated sigh.
She had to admit it—Marcelo’s sweet words had bewitched her, especially the part about wanting a baby with her.
