Chapter 599:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Marvin let out a quiet chuckle and shifted, lifting his weight so he wouldn’t pin her.
“Sorry. I got a little carried away. My body didn’t exactly listen to me.”
Sarah went still. His apology did nothing to cool the heat rushing to her face. Unable to meet his gaze, she said stiffly, “You… your kissing skills are surprisingly good. Not exactly what I’d expect from someone inexperienced.”
Marvin nodded as if he were accepting a perfectly normal compliment. “There’s always room for improvement. I should practice more.”
“You wish.” She shoved him, but her eyes betrayed her again, dropping briefly before she forced them away.
She didn’t have any condoms at home. If they kept going like this…
They might end up in bed.

Taking a steadying breath, Marvin stepped back. “I’m going to the bathroom.”
He didn’t know whether she was willing to give herself to him, and he wasn’t about to push.
The living room fell silent.
Relieved, Sarah let out a long sigh, then lifted both hands to her cheeks. They were burning.
Even though this wasn’t her first relationship, she was blushing like a teenager. Ridiculous.
With her jaw set, she glanced toward the bathroom door. In her mind, she warned, Marvin, don’t disappoint me.
Good news arrived from the hospital.
Paul had regained consciousness.
When Marcelo and Renee reached the hospital, Gary’s family was already waiting outside Paul’s ward.
Paul was still undergoing examinations and couldn’t receive visitors yet. They waited about ten minutes before the staff finally allowed them in.
The King family’s longtime butler briefed Paul on everything that had happened while he was unconscious, including the accusations surrounding Marcelo and Sebastian’s death. A deep frown formed on Paul’s face as he listened.
Because partial paralysis affected the left side of his body, only the right side of his expression moved. Just his right eyebrow drew together, creating an oddly comical look.
“Grandpa,” Andrew cut in with a mocking edge, “Aunt Joselyn is basically an outsider. She hasn’t visited in years, and now she suddenly gets the CEO position. Isn’t that practically handing the family over to someone who doesn’t belong?”
Paul tried to speak, but the words came out slurred. His lips trembled, and a thin line of drool slipped from the corner of his mouth.
The once-dignified Paul King now looked fragile—humiliated by his own body.
The butler quickly wiped Paul’s mouth, then informed him about Sebastian’s diagnosis of severe depression. Hit by one piece of news after another, Paul squeezed his eyes shut, as if he could block it all out.
Since Paul’s right hand could still move, the butler brought over a laptop so he could type his thoughts.
A moment later, the butler relayed the message to Gary. “Sir, the old master wishes to speak with Marcelo alone.”
Gary and his family had no choice but to comply. They didn’t dare challenge Paul directly.
They felt guilty.
So they forced themselves to look obedient—afraid that if they pushed too hard, something would slip and expose them.
“Mrs. Renee King,” the butler added politely, “please wait outside as well.”
Marcelo’s fingers closed around Renee’s wrist, pulling her closer instead. He looked at Paul with a cold, detached expression. “Should I leave too?”
Paul’s anger flared. His chest rose and fell rapidly, but in the end, he swallowed it.
Paul typed slowly, and the butler spoke on his behalf.
“Marcelo, the old master requests that you reclaim the CEO position of King Group. Otherwise, he will allow Gary’s family to take over.”
“Do as you please,” Marcelo replied flatly, as if the threat meant nothing.
In his mind, it didn’t. If Paul truly intended to hand everything to Gary’s family, he wouldn’t be offering Marcelo the CEO position at all.
Renee couldn’t hold back when she saw Paul trying to intimidate Marcelo. “Paul, are you tired of living?”
Paul shot Renee a furious glare, his breathing catching for a moment.
