Chapter 449:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“Well, to an amateur’s eyes like mine, it looks impeccable, not a flaw in sight.”
His words carried a deep, unhurried confidence, and there was a subtle intimacy to his tone, as if he were talking about more than just a hairpin. It was almost a tease, delivered softly, yet unmistakably personal.
For a brief moment, their eyes met, a flicker of intrigue passing between them. But without missing a beat, Allison shifted her attention back to the class.
“Surely one of you has an answer to my question?” she challenged, her voice now sparking a renewed sense of determination in the students.
As the students eagerly raised their hands to answer, the lecture room filled with animated voices.
“Allison, I think I’ve got an idea,” one student ventured. “That hairpin must have been reworked with a carving tool, right?”
“The intricate pattern looks like it was done with hollowing techniques!” another chimed in.
Time seemed to pass in the blink of an eye, and before long, the class wrapped up. Even as the session officially ended, students lingered in the lecture hall, their enthusiasm far from waning.
“Allison’s approach is so fresh and down-to-earth!” one student remarked excitedly.
“Honestly, I haven’t been this engaged in restoration studies in ages,” another added.
“Couldn’t she stay with us permanently?” someone asked, almost pleading.

“I don’t think I can bear the thought of her leaving,” one of the students whispered.
Several others looked up at Allison, their eyes filled with reluctant admiration. They felt the impact of her final message on “the importance of restoration work,” which struck a chord with many of them.
However, Allison did not stay.
She smiled warmly, meeting their gazes. “Thank you all for the support today. I wish you the best as future restorers, carrying on our work and reaching even more people.”
From the corner of the room, Roderick dabbed at his eyes before bowing deeply.
“Ms. Clarke, thank you so much. This work isn’t easy, and we old-timers sometimes make it seem dull. It’s hard to find young people willing to take up the mantle, but you, your passion — it’s inspiring.”
Roderick had rarely encountered someone like Allison, whose dedication to restoration was so palpable and inspiring.
Allison gave him a gentle smile. “You’re welcome. I only spoke casually, really. If the students find joy in the work of a restorer, that’s all the thanks I could hope for.” It was time to go.
Just as Allison stepped into the hall, a young male student hurried over, his cheeks flushed.
“Allison, can I… have your contact information?”
