Chapter 1103:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“Would you have done then?” Robert’s question caught Conrad off guard. He hesitated momentarily but then quickly assumed that Fraser was merely testing his loyalty.
With a confident smile, he patted his chest and declared, “Do you even need to ask? My life belongs to you. I would live and die by your side—eternally loyal!”
Robert’s eyes narrowed slightly, his grin stretching wider.
But the reward Conrad had been expecting never came. Instead, an unsettling chill filled the air. The smile on Robert’s face no longer seemed pleased—it had taken on a sinister edge.
Before Conrad could fully process the shift in the atmosphere, Robert spoke again, his tone calm yet laced with malice. “Let me share a secret with you. The man you disposed of in the river was Fraser. I am the ‘old fool’ Robert you mocked. Since your allegiance was to Fraser, perhaps you’d like to join him.”
Conrad’s eyes widened in sheer horror. His mouth opened, but no words came out. Finally, he forced a strained laugh, his face twisting into an even uglier expression. “President Horton, come on now! That’s a terrible joke! Not funny at all!”
Robert’s smile only deepened. “You’ll find out soon enough if I’m joking.”
With that, he nudged the cane beside him with his foot. It spun swiftly through the air before landing in his hand with effortless precision. The cane, now resembling more of a weapon than a walking aid, was directed swiftly toward Conrad’s chest.
Conrad stood frozen, paralyzed by fear. His mind screamed at him to move, to run—but his body refused to obey. He could do nothing but watch in terror as the blade-like tip of the cane sped toward him. Then, just as it was about to pierce his chest, a hand shot out and grabbed it mid-air.
Robert’s brow furrowed, his grip tightening. His gaze flicked up, meeting the face of the one who had stopped him. Standing before him, gripping the cane with unwavering strength, was Ashton. The very man who had supposedly run away not long ago.
“As loyal as he was to the Dark Night Organization, you’re just disposing of him now that he’s outlived his usefulness? Isn’t that a bit heartless?” Ashton remarked with a smirk as he looked at Robert. As he spoke, he kicked Conrad aside and muttered in a low voice, “What are you waiting for? Get lost.”

Although Ashton wanted Conrad dead, he felt it was better for Bruce’s family to decide his fate.
Conrad trembled, but once he came to his senses, he didn’t utter a single word of thanks—he simply turned and fled from the Vitality Pavilion.
Robert barely registered Conrad’s escape. His eyes flashed with murderous intent as he focused on Ashton.
“I never expected a deserter like you to come crawling back. Have you developed a death wish?” Robert sneered coldly.
Ashton shook his head. “Not at all. I intend to live a long life, so I came to you.”
With that, he pulled out two tattered books from his waist.
Robert’s eyes widened in an instant. Those were the very fragments of the Ancient Medical Secrets he had been coveting for so long.
