Chapter 1105:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Ashton wiped away the blood at the corner of his mouth, his smile unfazed. “Ever wondered why I knew about your plan to take over Fraser’s body long before it happened yet made no move to stop you? Was it truly because I couldn’t interfere? Or perhaps… I wanted you to go through with it even more than you did? Tell me, have you noticed anything odd? Have your hands been trembling this entire time?”
A flicker of irritation crossed Robert’s face. Without hesitation, he gripped his cane tighter, prepared to strike.
But the moment he tensed his muscles, a wave of numbness surged from his fingertips, spreading rapidly through his body. His limbs turned to stone, refusing to obey.
The realization struck him belatedly, and rage exploded within him. “You tampered with Fraser’s body before I took over? That’s why you never tried to stop me? You were waiting for this moment all along?”
Ashton’s smirk widened as he nodded. “Correct. And for figuring it out, I’ll be sending you off to meet Fraser.”
Robert clenched his jaw, forcing out a furious growl. “It won’t work! I have medicine that counteracts internal injuries just like your Recovery Balm. No matter what you’ve done, I can recover in no time!”
Yet when he reached for the antidote, dread set in—his body refused to move. He was completely paralyzed.
Ashton wasted no time. With a swift motion, he plucked the cane from Robert’s stiff fingers, twirling it in his grasp. “This is a Glorious Heritage item too, isn’t it? I can’t let you use it now.”
Robert’s entire frame trembled with rage, yet he remained utterly powerless, forced to watch as Ashton mocked his helplessness.
Ashton tilted his head slightly. “Now, both your medicine and your artifacts are useless. Just as Fraser once said before he died—no one is perfect. Even the tools you rely on have weaknesses. The Glorious Heritage items can’t activate unless touched, and medicine must be swallowed to work. When you struck me earlier, I used silver needles to block your key acupuncture points. You were too blinded by anger to notice, and now… it’s too late.”

Robert refused to accept defeat. Summoning every ounce of strength, he forced out a few hoarse words. “How? How could you have planned this so far in advance?”
Ashton remained unfazed. “During one of my conversations with Fraser, I noticed something was off. You instructed him to prioritize his safety over every mission? Before meeting you, I might’ve thought you cared about your subordinate. But the fact that you traveled to Inewood without informing Fraser made it clear—you never truly trusted Fraser. This meant his body was of greater value to you than him as a person. So, I spent time subtly tampering with his vital acupuncture points. The changes were too minor for him to notice, but they ensured that when you took over his body, this would happen. That’s why I never stopped the swap.”
He lifted the cane, pointing it directly at Robert’s chest. “Well, now you know how this ends. Time to go.”
For the first time, Robert felt a sliver of hope. If Ashton struck him with the cane, he could trigger its ability and turn the tables in an instant. But then Ashton’s lips curled into a knowing smirk. “Oh, did you really think I’d use this to finish you off?”
