Chapter 1854:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“You’re the one to blame,” Nina huffed.
Jesse was genuinely confused. How was this his fault?
Nina didn’t wait for him to ask. “If you hadn’t absorbed all the nutrients in Mom’s belly, I could’ve been smarter, and I wouldn’t be this bad at lying.”
Among her peers, she was considered sharp — quick to catch on and absorb new things. But she still fell far short of Jesse.
Most people excelled in one area. He thrived in several at once. On the surface, he looked like a young CEO steering a successful company, but behind the scenes he was also a standout student of world-renowned mentors, outshining them just as their mother once had. Despite all of it, he stayed humble and understated. To this day, aside from her and their parents, no one knew the full extent of what he was capable of.
“This is actually a good thing,” Jesse said, accepting her explanation with rare warmth. “If I’m stronger and sharper, I can look after you without having to worry.”

“Ugh.” Nina wrinkled her nose. “You’re giving me goosebumps.”
A flicker of tenderness softened Jesse’s expression. He truly did care about her. For all their bickering, she meant the world to him.
“Come up with a better story soon,” Nina warned, circling back to the point. “Mom and Dad are planning to talk to you.”
“Alright,” Jesse said. He already had a few ideas brewing in the back of his mind.
Over the next two days, Freya and Ellis stayed home while Nina kept herself busy working through the intricate details of her proposal plan.
As she mapped out the general framework, she was struck by a sudden realization — she didn’t know Damian’s ring size. And without that, how was she supposed to prepare a ring for the proposal?
The troubling detail sent a wave of mild panic through her. Her first instinct was to book a flight to Jeucwell immediately. But she hesitated — Damian’s instincts were razor-sharp. If she turned up again this soon, it would undoubtedly raise suspicion. So what was she supposed to do?
As she turned the problem over in her mind, an answer came to her. Kristian could help.
Kristian was in the middle of a meal with Damian when her call came through. “Nina, what’s going on?”
“I need a favor,” Nina said, cutting straight to the point. She trusted his competence completely. “But you can’t let Damian find out.”
Kristian instinctively glanced across the table at Damian.
Damian frowned slightly, his eyes drifting toward Kristian’s phone with a silent question.
“You’ll have to tell me what it’s about first,” Kristian replied, looking away.
Nina moved quickly to get ahead of him. “I’ll tell you, but you have to promise not to tell Damian.”
“Just tell me already,” Kristian said, still without giving a clear answer.
“I want you to help me measure Damian’s ring finger.” Nina, reading his usual pattern as silent agreement, took it as a yes and pressed on without waiting.
