Chapter 1855:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Kristian glanced at Damian again, then spoke evenly into the phone. “Why do you need that?”
That single question made Nina freeze. “Wait — Damian’s with you right now, isn’t he?”
“Yeah,” Kristian confirmed without hesitation.
Nina’s heart sank. “Did he hear what I said?”
“No,” Kristian said calmly.
Nina let out a breath of relief. “Thank goodness.”
“But you still haven’t told me what it’s for,” Kristian pressed, his tone casual — though he had already pieced it together.

“I’m planning to propose to him.” Nina saw no reason to hide it from Kristian; they had always been close. “I was going to try and measure it myself, but he’s far too sharp. If I flew back this soon, he’d definitely suspect something.”
“You’ve got a point,” Kristian agreed.
Nina got back to business. “So will you help me?”
Instead of answering, Kristian ended the call.
Nina stared at her phone. What had just happened?
She was about to call back when a message from Kristian came through. “I’ll help you, but I can’t promise Damian won’t find out.”
“I believe in you,” Nina replied with complete confidence. Kristian had always been her steady ally. Whenever he promised to help, he never failed to come through.
Unfortunately, this time she had placed her faith in the wrong person.
The moment the call ended, Damian asked, “Was that Nina?”
“Yeah,” Kristian answered without missing a beat — casually betraying her, having decided it was more fitting for Damian to be the one to propose. “She wants me to measure your ring size.”
Damian paused mid-bite. Ring size?
“She’s planning to propose to you,” Kristian added.
A flicker of emotion passed through Damian’s eyes — as though the idea had never once crossed his mind.
A woman proposing to a man. She must really love him to take that step.
“Should I tell her?” Kristian asked.
Damian shook his head. He wanted to be the one to ask. “No.”
“Got it,” Kristian agreed easily.
Damian gave a small nod, his thoughts already drifting far away.
In the days that followed, Nina kept checking in with Kristian, only to receive the same reply each time — there hadn’t been a good opportunity yet.
Three days slipped by just like that.
Freya and Ellis sat down to talk with Jesse. Thanks to his thorough preparation, he fielded their questions with ease. Though they could tell he wasn’t being entirely truthful, his genuine attitude toward Alayna was enough for them to let the matter rest and give the marriage their blessing.
As for Nina, after waiting with no progress, she began to consider going to Jeucwell and handling it herself.
Kristian, upon hearing this, assured her he needed a little more time and promised he would have the ring size by the following Friday.
“Really?” Nina asked, clearly on edge.
“Yeah,” Kristian said.
