Chapter 1366:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
At that moment, the king held all the cards—Makenna included. I had no option but to stall for time.
“I want to see Makenna first,” I said before I could stop myself, my throat scratchy. “I need to make sure she’s unharmed.”
“Very well,” the king replied with a nod, motioning for Lucian to escort me to her.
Without hesitation, Lucian moved toward me. I trailed behind him down the shadowy hallways, but then I halted. I turned, looked him in the eye, and asked,
“Lucian, will you stay loyal to me and keep helping me?”
He paused for just a second, his breath catching.
“Your Highness, my duty lies with His Majesty. And aiding you… that’s what His Majesty has ordered.” He hesitated for a beat, then said, “But if you keep protecting those werewolf princes… for the future of the Wizard Clan, I won’t be able to stay by your side.”
“I get it,” I cut in, not letting him finish.
As we arrived at the bedroom tucked in the corner, Lucian leaned in and spoke in a hushed tone.
“Prince Colt called the border commander in private last night.”
The key turning in the lock grated on my ears. Then Lucian added,
“He could be up to something. Watch your back.”
“Understood,” I said simply.
Right after I spoke, the door groaned as it swung inward. Lucian and I locked eyes for a brief moment. Then he turned on his heel and left.
As soon as I crossed the threshold, I saw Makenna standing there. She sat quietly at the edge of the bed, layers of bandages wound tightly around her head. Her long hair spilled over her shoulders and down the front of her body.
When the door creaked open, she raised her head with care. The fog in her eyes had vanished—now they shone sharp and bright, like ice under sunlight.

The moment she laid eyes on me, Makenna rose to her feet.
“Jett,” she said in a low, calm voice—gentle and clear, like moonlight touching still water. “Everything’s come back to me.”
“What did you say?” I asked, stunned.
“I said, my memories are back,” she said again, her eyes holding mine without wavering. “I remember it all now.”
Jett’s POV:
“You… you…” I stammered.
Makenna’s words pierced through me like jagged shards of ice, each syllable striking the deepest recesses of my heart. I stood frozen like a statue, my fingertips unconsciously clawing into my palms until they drew blood, though the physical pain was nothing compared to the agony tearing through my soul.
The devastating truth crashed over me—she remembered everything!
Logic screamed that I should celebrate the return of her memories, but instead, a crushing sense of loss twisted through my chest like a poison without antidote.
A treacherous thought whispered through my mind—if she had never recovered those memories, perhaps I could have selfishly imprisoned her heart beside mine forever. But now that possibility had crumbled to ash. I savagely severed that pathetic, despicable thought and commanded my leaden feet to carry me forward.
“Makenna, the situation is very complicated right now.” My voice sounded foreign to my ears, dry as desert sand and rough as gravel. “The king lies on his deathbed. Colt has been secretly amassing an army in the shadows… And the king has commanded me to execute Bryan and his brothers without mercy.”
She absorbed my words in profound silence, her dark lashes casting intricate shadows that danced across her cheeks.
“Let’s get married,” Makenna declared suddenly, her voice floating toward me as soft as a whispered prayer, yet the words crashed into my heart with the force of a sledgehammer.
