Chapter 357:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Joseph’s appearance made Rebekah forget to fight and she ended up being pushed back onto the bed.
“So they can talk.”
Hayden then put the apple and knife on the nightstand. As he passed Joseph, he let out an encouraging smile.
It wasn’t easy to clear up a misunderstanding after twenty years filled with resentment. They needed much more time to heal that wound.
After Hayden left, Rebekah seemed more anxious. “Joseph, I’ll leave this afternoon I won’t bother you anymore.”
Looking at Rebekah, Joseph frowned. “The doctor said you should stay in the hospital for a whole week. If you leave this afternoon, the doctor will ask me where you’ve gone – wouldn’t that be worrying?”

At his words, Rebekah paused and didn’t know what to reply.
Joseph frowned more, it seemed unnatural.
Then all was silent in the room. “Ted is in custody for now. He had committed many crimes before, so he will probably be sentenced to death, do you have anything to say to him before the trial?”.
Joseph mentioned Ted and didn’t dodge his existence.
Rebekah’s hands clutching the blanket relaxed then and she said softly, “No.”
Since Joseph already knew the truth, it would be much more awkward for her if she just pretended nothing had happened. It was better if they cleared everything up.
Joseph nodded and said, “My brother’s wound is not that serious, he only has a fever now and he hasn’t woken up yet. Yesterday he was transferred to the military hospital in N City. If he doesn’t want to be here, they can transfer you to that hospital.”
Rebekah looked up in surprise, “What…what did you call him?”
She had never expected Joseph to be willing to admit that Benjamin was his brother. It would be enough for her if Joseph saw him as a stranger.
But Joseph merely avoided her gaze and said, “He’s still Dad’s only son and Grandpa’s only grandson, no matter what. He will also be the heir to the Beckham Group and the ST Group. I will be responsible for his life until that happens.”
Suddenly, Rebekah felt pain inside.
Her biggest fear was that Joseph would start to question if he found out everything. It really just came true.
“Nonsense!” The serious atmosphere of the room was suddenly broken by an elderly voice.
“Grandpa?”
“Dad?”
Joseph and Rebekah shouted.
Old Mr. Beckham then entered with a serious and angry look on his face. “Your father raised you for thirteen years and I raised you for twenty. How can you say you’re not his son and my grandson, is that any respect for us?”
Though he was still scowling, Joseph’s face brightened a little.
“I heard all about it.”
Seeing the daughter he hadn’t seen in twenty years lying in a hospital bed, Old Master Beckham suddenly felt emotional and his eyes began to water. But he didn’t want to see her anymore and just tilted his head to wipe away his tears.
Rebekah hurried to get out of bed. “Daddy.”
“Don’t move.” Old Master Beckham merely waved his hand and sounded annoyed, “You’re weak, don’t move. We can talk here, you can also tell me how you raised Benjamin alone all these years.”
Looking at Joseph, Rebekah didn’t know what to say.
“Grandpa, I’ll be outside…”.
“Stay here.”
Old Master Beckham directly cut him off mid-sentence. “You’re always busy and you haven’t been home in a while. How dare you say you’ll leave everything to Benjamin? You don’t want to take care of me anymore? If you still think you’re not your father’s son, I’ll tell you that you’ll always be your mother’s son. Your mother will always be my daughter, so you’re my grandson anyway.”
A trace of surprise flew across Joseph’s eyes.
Hayden was sitting outside with Stella and Noah leaning against her. They were asking Hayden to tell them stories.
“Mommy, you’re so cool. Weren’t you afraid of those bad men?” Stella winked and asked.
Noah understood more than Stella did. Aside from curious, he also looked worried.
Hayden hugged them tightly and said softly, “Of course I was afraid, but I didn’t feel that way when I thought about how I could protect my friends and family.”
Stella nodded and said firmly, “I’ll protect Mom and I won’t be afraid.”
Noah hugged Hayden tightly and said nothing.
After the observation period at the hospital, Rebekah was discharged. Joseph himself picked her up in N-Town so she would be well taken care of. Even Old Mr. Beckham let her live in the family mansion.
Rebekah stood in front of the door for a while when she returned to the mansion.
When she left this house twenty years ago, not only had she just lost the love of her life, but she was completely alone. Now she felt really emotional.
Benjamin’s body had recovered a lot and the doctor agreed to let her go away for one night. the Beckhams were having a family reunion. And Hayden’s aunt was there too, so they re-did the family banquet that was ruined earlier.
Compared to the previous one, this one was really homey.
Rebekah cooked herself and Hayden’s ever picky aunt couldn’t help but praise her cooking saying she wanted to learn from her when they were both free.
After dinner, Rebekah and Scarlett went into the garden for a walk, while Joseph and the Harrison went into the study to discuss a company acquisition project. Benjamin then pestered Hayden to show him around the mansion.
“Can’t we do that in the daytime? It’s pitch black outside.”
“Well, the hospital said I had to go back to the hospital tomorrow morning.”
Hayden hugged him and walked down the hall with a flashlight. Everything looked spooky.
The Beckham mansion was quite large and only a few rooms that were often used had electricity. So in the courtyard everything was dark at night.
“Let’s back up after we see this area, if you want, you can live here when you’re well.”
“I would love to. But my application to go abroad had been approved, so I have to leave after this winter vacation.”
“So soon?” Hayden paused, he was in shock, “How come I’ve never heard you talk about that?”
“Well, you don’t want me to leave do you? I’ll just tell the school I want to waive this fee if you really don’t want me to leave.”
Just as Hayden was about to speak, Joseph said coldly from behind him, “It’s not really smart to stay for this excuse.”
The maid told Joseph that Hayden was here. He was afraid something might happen to her since it was so dark outside and went to look for her. Then he heard that his brother was bothering his future sister-in-law and became angry.
While Joseph was still furious, Benjamin suddenly said, “Brother, what are you doing here?”
Then there was silence in the courtyard.
Joseph twitched his mouth and became mute.
He really didn’t expect Benjamin to call him brother so blatantly.
