Chapter 1221:

And, as usual, Maren simply answered, “I can handle it.”
“That’s a relief,” Orlando said, letting out a breath he’d been holding.
Soon enough, their turn came around again. This time, Maren was the last one standing for her team.
She found herself matched against a burly man who looked twice her size. The crowd’s reaction was immediate:
“Are you kidding? The Dark Hills actually put their last hope on a woman?”
“And not just any woman; she’s gorgeous! What’s someone like her doing in brutal combat like this?”
“I’d hate to see her get hurt. Someone that beautiful should be protected, not tossed into the ring.”
As Maren strode into the arena, every eye in the place followed her. Her presence practically stole the air from the room.
The gangsters were already obsessed with beautiful women, and Maren’s striking appearance left them completely captivated.

Some even joked about paying to free her, urging her not to fight.
“Well, look who it is! Should’ve guessed you’d show up again,” Jovanni sneered as he immediately recognized Maren. “Lucky break, not having to face the Axe Gang this round. Don’t get too comfortable. You’ll be up against one of our best soon enough, and you won’t walk away next time!”
Jovanni had put everything on the line to make sure Maren paid for crossing him.
The strong fighters representing the Axe Gang were all brought in at a great cost by him.
“Didn’t the Dark Hills claim they came for the championship? Why send their prettiest member into the fight? You know, you could just admit defeat if you’re not up for it. There’s no shame in walking away.”
Maren’s opponent, a muscular, middle-aged man, looked her up and down, his sneer visible from across the ring.
The rules in the Underground Fighter Combat allowed three fighters per gang, but the Dark Hills showed up with just two. The first was eliminated in the first round. Now, all eyes were on their last hope— a woman.
“You sure run your mouth,” Maren snapped back, not bothering to entertain his posturing.
Enemies surrounded her on every side. Every gang in this Underground Fighter Combat was a target. She intended to seize all their territories and resources.
“You think you’re untouchable, huh? I might have gone easy on you since you’re a lady. If you begged, maybe I’d let you crawl out of here.” The burly man felt insulted.
“Talk is cheap. Try saving your breath for yourself.”
The moment the host signaled the start, Maren sprang forward without hesitation.
She moved with precision, fist cocked and ready to strike.
A mocking grin spread across the man’s face. “Rushing in headfirst? That’s your big plan? The Dark Hills must really want to lose.” Was she really planning to challenge him with brute force?
