Chapter 1220:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
The rest of the crowd, on the other hand, looked stunned.
“What just happened? How did Scar win? Didn’t Tiger have the upper hand a second ago?”
“I missed it too. Tiger was dominating the whole time. How did Scar end up winning out of nowhere?”
“The Axe Gang pulled it off! Those guys are no joke!”
Jovanni couldn’t hide his excitement. He burst out laughing, shooting a smug look at Orlando.
“Damn it.” Orlando slammed his fist on the chair, frustration boiling over. “Handing the territory over to the Axe Gang stings more than I can say.”
These two gangs had been rivals for as long as anyone could remember. Even before the Underground Fighter Combat began, Jovanni had openly dared them, provoking Orlando, and both men swore to take each other out of the competition. Losing to Jovanni and enduring his ridicule only made Orlando’s defeat sting more.
“You’re our last shot now, Ms. Morgan. The Dark Hills is counting on you. Give it everything you’ve got!”
Now, all the pressure rested squarely on Maren’s shoulders.
“I said I’d do my part, and I mean it. You don’t have to worry about me,” Maren replied, her tone steady and unbothered.
Hearing her assurance, Orlando finally relaxed.

He didn’t trust just anyone, but when it came to Maren, he had no doubts at all. Tiger might have been just as talented as Izaiah, but neither of them came close to Maren’s level.
“That’s what I needed to hear. I believe in you. Maybe, with a bit of luck, we’ll get another shot at taking down the Axe Gang.”
Just knowing Maren was on their side gave Orlando some comfort.
With every round, opponents for the Underground Fighter Combat were drawn at random. After the opening matches, new pairings would be set for the next round, allowing the winners to catch their breath.
The announcer rattled off the next lineup for the second round. This time, neither the Dark Hills nor the Axe Gang was called. For now, it was other crews’ turn to settle their scores.
Maren and Orlando paid little attention until the Axe Gang appeared on the list once more.
A moment later, a slim young man with a faint mustache entered the ring. He might have looked unimposing, but his skill was undeniable as he crushed his challenger in a single, clean move.
“Ms. Morgan, what do you make of him?” Orlando asked, his eyes flicking to her for insight.
He always seemed to turn to Maren for her opinion whenever a talented fighter showed up in the arena.
