Chapter 1185:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Charlie still looked reluctant, but Brayden’s tone left no room for argument. In the end, he obeyed and drove him straight to the Holt Group headquarters.
The second they entered the company building, their appearance immediately drew attention from nearby employees.
“Isn’t that Brayden Stanley?” someone whispered in surprise. “I heard he was badly hurt protecting Gracie. I didn’t think he’d recover enough to leave the hospital this quickly.”
“That’s seriously like something out of a romance novel,” another employee said with a sigh. “If a man ever risked his life for me like that, I’d have no regrets.”
“Lower your voice,” someone else said quietly. “Don’t you think something feels off? He looks like he’s here to settle something. The whole atmosphere just turned cold.”
Ignoring the murmurs around him, Brayden kept a blank expression as he stepped into the private elevator leading directly to the top floor.
The elevator doors slid open, revealing Eaton’s assistant already waiting outside after being informed of their arrival in advance. “Mr. Stanley,” the assistant said, “what brings you here today?”

Brayden only shot him a cold glance before Charlie stepped forward and blocked the man’s path. “Mr. Stanley is here to speak with Mr. Holt privately. You’ll stay here with me.”
Without wasting another second, Brayden walked straight toward Eaton’s office and shoved the door open.
Eaton, who had been reviewing documents at his desk, looked up at the sudden noise. For a second, surprise flickered in his eyes when he saw Brayden, though his composure quickly returned.
“Mr. Stanley,” Eaton said calmly, “shouldn’t you still be recovering at the hospital? To what do I owe the honor of this unexpected visit? Distinguished guests have become quite rare lately.”
“You know exactly what you’ve done. There’s no point pretending otherwise,” Brayden said in a cold voice. “This time, you almost got me killed. Don’t you think you owe me an explanation?”
“Mr. Stanley, we each have our own motives and principles. You’re the one who drove Theo to absolute despair. What gives you the moral authority to stand in judgment of me?” asked Eaton.
Brayden’s expression went glacial. “I understand your position perfectly now. In that case, the Holt Group no longer deserves to exist.”
He’d come here today for one reason only — to offer Eaton a final opportunity to step back from the abyss.
The dead couldn’t be resurrected — not Theo, not anyone. Since that chapter had closed, it shouldn’t be allowed to poison the lives of those still living.
Eaton’s lips twisted into a bitter smirk as he rose slowly from his chair and advanced on Brayden. “So you came here today to graciously offer me a chance? How magnanimous. But you never gave Theo a chance, did you?”
Brayden’s eyes narrowed to dangerous slits, and a cold laugh escaped him. “If you weren’t Jessie’s brother, you wouldn’t even have the privilege of speaking to me. But that protection ends now. From this moment forward, you’ll pay dearly for everything you’ve done.”
