Chapter 244:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
This formidable woman, Barbara Croft, was the wife of a client, Gavin Croft. Gavin had been on the verge of signing a huge deal with another agent.
Rick Snyder, blinded by greed, had secretly contacted Gavin, trying to poach the deal with a lower commission.
He hadn’t expected Gavin to be so terrified of his wife that he told her everything. The result was the scene unfolding before me.
The office steward, Chester Perry, a man as thin as a bamboo pole, was sweating profusely on the sidelines, too scared to intervene. The Croft family was a major client they couldn’t afford to offend.
I watched the farce with no emotion, finding it almost amusing. This was what they called poetic justice.
I didn’t need to lift a finger. Rick Snyder was getting his comeuppance for his own greed.
I looked away and said to Sonny beside me, “Let’s go to your desk. It’s too noisy here.”
Sonny, startled for a moment, quickly understood. He shot me a grateful look and led me through the crowd of onlookers to his small cubicle.
My calm, detached attitude surprised a few of the agents who noticed me.

In their eyes, I—the “poor client” Rick Snyder had scorned—should be gloating right now.
Once we were at Sonny’s desk, the noise from outside lessened.
Sonny poured me a glass of water, still agitated. “Madam Kramer, did you see that? Rick, he—”
I cut him off. “I saw. But that has nothing to do with us.”
I looked at him seriously. “Sonny, you need to remember, watching others fail won’t make you succeed. Focus on our own business.”
My words calmed him down. He took a deep breath and nodded heavily, his eyes becoming focused and clear.
“You’re right,” he said, pulling a document from his drawer. “This is the deed for the Linden Street property. I’ve prepared it as you requested.”
I took the deed and carefully reviewed every clause.
Outside, Barbara Croft’s yelling and Rick Snyder’s pleas continued, finally ending with Office Steward Perry promising to dismiss Rick and pay the Croft family a substantial sum in damages.
But none of that mattered to me anymore. I had found my goal, and I had found my ally.
I took my quill pen from my handbag and signed my name at the bottom of the deed: Haven Kramer. After signing, I handed the deed to Sonny, my mind completely absorbed by the plan about to be set in motion, and I unconsciously left the pen on the table.
Sonny Sawyer POV
I watched Haven Kramer sign her name on the deed. In that moment, my heart nearly leaped out of my throat.
This was my first deal! My very first transaction as a property agent!
And it wasn’t a small one. The Linden Street property might not be Magnolia Street, but the total price was still a handsome sum, enough for me to become a full agent and earn a substantial commission.
“Thank you, Madam Kramer! Really—thank you so much!” I was so excited I was babbling, bowing to her.
