Chapter 251:

Of course. It was her. A wave of icy rage rolled through me, a silent volcano preparing to erupt.
The guard captain approached me respectfully. “Ma’am, what should we do with these two?”
“Hand them over to Magistrate Orson Grant on charges of kidnapping,” I said, my voice steady. “I will be following up personally.”
The guards hauled the two thugs away. The alley was quiet now, with just Sonny and me left.
I turned to him, my expression serious. “Mr. Sawyer, as of today, you are no longer an apprentice at Golden Key Property Agency.”
His face fell, turning deathly pale. He thought he had done something wrong, that he had caused me trouble.
I let a small smile touch my lips. “You work for me now. I need someone loyal, brave, and clever to handle some affairs for me. Are you interested?”
He stared at me, dumbfounded. Then a wave of pure joy washed over his face. He stammered, “I… I am! Madam Kramer! I’ll do anything for you!”
I nodded. “Meet me at the Linden Street property tomorrow. Our work begins there.”
I handed him a small, heavy pouch of gold coins—an advance on his wages and a reward for his courage. He tried to refuse, but I insisted.
After he left, the gentle expression on my face vanished completely.

Charly Kramer. You crossed a line.
I turned and started the long walk back to the Contreras estate, my mind already spinning, designing the perfect revenge. You like to play in the shadows, dear sister. I will make sure you are ruined in broad daylight.
Haven Kramer POV
It was late when I returned to the estate. I went straight to my study, not the bedroom. The fire for revenge burning inside me left no room for sleep.
I spread a large parchment map of the capital across the desk, my fingers tracing the daily routes and social haunts of Charly and Darren Contreras.
Phoebe entered with a tray holding warm milk and a calming herbal tea. Her face was etched with worry. “My Luna, you look terribly pale. Did something happen?”
I didn’t hide it from her. I told her briefly that I had been attacked in the street but that the situation was resolved, omitting the more terrifying details.
Phoebe’s face drained of color. She immediately moved to inform the Alpha.
I stopped her. “Phoebe, I don’t want Demetri to know about this. He’s focused on council matters, and I won’t have him distracted. Besides,” I added, my voice hardening, “this is my fight.”
Though she disagreed, her loyalty to me won out. She promised to keep my secret, reaffirming the trust I placed in her.
I sent her to bed and returned to my map. Just then, the study door opened without a sound.
Demetri glided in on his wheelchair.
My heart seized. I instinctively tried to roll up the map.
“Too late. I’ve already seen it,” he said. His voice was calm, but his ice-blue eyes held a questioning glint.
