Chapter 1671:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Leona watched their exchange with sharp, hawk-like eyes, holding her breath as she waited for Matthew’s response.
After another charged moment, Matthew repeated, “I’ll have Fernando arrange it.”
The Wheeler family breathed a collective sigh of relief, while Lindsay looked concerned.
“Is this too much trouble for you?” she asked Matthew. “If it is, we can just forget about it.”
“It’s not a problem,” Matthew replied coolly. “The doctor did mention that maintaining a good mood is essential for your recovery. Making desserts might do just that, so it’s fine. Go to Prosperity Group tomorrow and sign the necessary paperwork.”
Lindsay couldn’t help but feel disappointed by his cold and logical reasoning.
She had hoped that this would bring her closer to Matthew, but he was still so distant toward her. If anything, he acted like giving her the store was just another duty he needed to fulfill. There wasn’t a single trace of warmth in his demeanor.
Even so, Lindsay forced herself to smile. “All right, Matthew. Thank you.”
As Stella and her companions finished their meal, the evening had deepened into night.
Bella looked at Stella thoughtfully. “Is Matthew coming to pick you up?” she asked. “If not, Alissa and I are headed the same way, and I can leave with her.”
Usually, Matthew would have been there, waiting to drive Stella home regardless of the time.
But now, things were different.
Stella gave a slight shake of her head. “He’s stuck working late,” she responded. “Don’t worry, I drove here, so I’ll drop you and Alissa off.”
Bella sensed some tension between Stella and Matthew, but the busy restaurant wasn’t the place to delve into it. She decided to wait and talk to Stella privately on the drive home.

As they left the restaurant, Doreen lingered behind, her eyes sweeping the area for any sign of Dexter. Despite her hopefulness, he was nowhere to be seen, and her disappointment was palpable.
“Doreen, give it up. He’s already left. Seems like today’s not the day for romance,” Carly teased.
“I was just looking around, nothing more!” Doreen quickly retorted, blushing.
The two laughed and parted ways with Stella and the others.
“Meet me at the entrance. I’ll get the car,” Stella told Bella and Alissa.
“Sure, go ahead,” Bella responded with a smile. As Bella turned to chat with Alissa, she saw a familiar figure emerging from the restaurant next door.
“Stella, isn’t that Matthew?” Bella instinctively called out, pointing at him.
Stella halted, following Bella’s pointed finger. It really was Matthew, and he wasn’t alone. Lindsay and Robin were at his side.
A sharp pang of hurt gripped Stella, seeing him so close to the Wheeler family.
Matthew had not only helped Robin get out of the police station but was now sharing a meal with them. What was she to him now?
Seeing this, Bella was even more convinced that something was wrong between Stella and Matthew. She knew Stella wasn’t one to fabricate stories and remembered her mentioning Lindsay, the woman who had once saved Matthew before.
Bella’s thoughts raced, piecing together that the tension between Stella and Matthew might involve Lindsay and the young man beside Matthew.
