Chapter 751:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
An individual had suffered a knife wound, and the floor was slick with red. The caregiver trembled so violently she could scarcely remain upright, frozen as the man whisked Jillian into his arms, unable to do anything.
Katherine had the urge to intervene but hesitated, worried that confronting the unhinged man might trigger violence. She lifted both palms in surrender, attempting to pacify him.
“I get that you’re hurting right now. Let’s pause, breathe, and figure out how to support your little one, alright?”
The man gave no response to Katherine, rocking Jillian delicately as if she belonged to him, murmuring “my treasure” again and again.
Nevertheless, Jillian sobbed relentlessly.
Believing she was injured, the man—clearly unwell—darted off in search of medical assistance.
Reacting purely on impulse, Katherine sprang forward to pull Jillian from his grip.
Viewing Katherine as a threat, the man swung a blade. She kept her attention locked on Jillian, ignoring the risk, and wrestled the child free, suffering a gash in the exchange.
The wound didn’t register. Holding Jillian close, Katherine fled the scene.
The man’s enraged roars bounced off the walls as he ran after her.

Katherine became his prey, and no one dared to get involved. On survival instinct, she bolted toward open space and nearly collided with a man stepping out of an elevator.
Acting instantly, Katherine called out,
“Help me—get the authorities!”
She raised her eyes and instantly froze upon recognizing Julian.
The meeting felt fated, like destiny’s cruel trick. Her brain stalled, incapable of forming thoughts.
Behind her, the footsteps approached rapidly.
Pressed for options, Katherine clutched Jillian protectively and moved beside Julian.
All the man saw was the child. He lunged again.
Julian, calm and expressionless, struck him down with his foot.
The man wailed in agony, begging for his daughter.
Julian turned toward Katherine. The shrieking and her pallid skin made the moment feel unreal.
He noticed her hand gripping his sleeve.
“Are you coming or not?”
Katherine, coated in clammy sweat, looked at him with vacant eyes. He met her stare.
“Two seconds. Stay and bleed, or leave with me.”
Her pulse thundered inside her chest.
The man began to rise again, but Julian didn’t wait—he seized her wrist and pulled her along.
He advanced quickly, yet with calm certainty. Though physically and emotionally spent, Katherine kept up without struggle.
He guided her purposefully, distancing them from the unstable man without pause.
Julian brought her to the lower-level car park and motioned her into his car. Inside, Katherine swiftly removed the wrap covering Jillian to ensure she could breathe properly.
The child had wailed herself breathless; one careless moment could be deadly.
Surrounded by concrete silence, Julian sat quietly behind the wheel, his presence oddly reassuring. Katherine’s breathing began to slow, and Jillian’s wails softened.
Katherine caressed Jillian’s back, her face lowered.
“Thanks,” Katherine said with difficulty.
Julian watched them through the mirror.
Something about it felt wrong—they hadn’t spoken in nearly a year.
In that span, he had continued life unaffected, but she had flourished—romance, work, even motherhood.
They had tried everything for a child, to no avail. But Colten’s daughter came so easily.
