Chapter 756:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
He muttered a curse under his breath and summoned his private doctor. The female doctor required only a single glance at Katherine to diagnose the problem.
“Mr. Nash, she’s developed a milk duct obstruction. She’ll need a lactation consultant immediately.”
Julian felt tension spike through his temples like lightning.
“Milk duct obstruction?”
Fragments of knowledge about the condition surfaced in his memory, but the information proved insufficient for action. He turned to research for answers.
The doctor’s voice carried professional concern.
“Shall I arrange for a lactation consultant to assist her?”
Julian’s thumb swept across his phone screen, extinguishing the display. His eyes held unfathomable depths.
“That won’t be necessary. Are you capable of watching the baby?”
“I suppose I could manage that.”

“Take her outside, and ensure she remains quiet.”
The doctor’s confusion was evident, but she gathered Jillian into her arms and departed without further question.
Katherine’s maternal instincts stirred her from fevered sleep. Her eyes fluttered open just as the doctor’s silhouette disappeared through the doorway. As awareness sharpened her thoughts and she prepared to call out, Julian’s imposing figure materialized before her, his austere features filling her entire field of vision.
Her stare burned with intensity.
“Julian, where is she taking my daughter?”
“Focus on your own condition first.”
Julian’s attention dropped to her perspiration-soaked face.
“Your fever refuses to break, and medication isn’t an option for you. What exactly do you intend to do about this situation?”
Katherine understood her body’s distress signals perfectly, but her own discomfort paled beside her concern for the dangerous glint lurking in his eyes.
“Hand me your phone,” she demanded. “I need…”
“To contact my caregiver.”
Julian’s hands pressed against her shoulders, forcing her back until the headboard trapped her against its unforgiving surface. Katherine’s pulse quickened dangerously.
“Julian, what are you planning?”
His fingers moved with deliberate slowness, working each button of her thin blouse with maddening precision. The revealed skin mesmerized him, and his throat worked visibly.
“I’m going to help you.”
Katherine’s entire being rejected his proposition. She struggled against his hold, her voice rising in desperation.
“You have no idea what you’re doing!”
“A lactation consultant requires skilled hands, but my mouth needs no such training.”
Julian’s words hung in the air like a challenge. Katherine found herself completely immobilized beneath his weight, every path of escape sealed off. He lowered his head, breathing in the intoxicating fragrance clinging to her collarbone.
“Katherine, you came to me today. Whatever happens next, you’ll have no choice but to accept it.”
Katherine already felt ridiculous for coming here in the first place. But now—surrounded by Julian’s warmth, with the shifting pressure against her skin—she felt as though she were drifting far above solid ground. No matter how hard she tried, her thoughts refused to stay focused. Everything around her carried a surreal quality.
