Chapter 767:

Katherine’s anger surged so fiercely that her vision blurred. His hand clamped around her arm, hard enough to make her wince. She spat out the words, “Let go of me.”
A flicker of restraint crossed Julian’s face. As if waking from a trance, he finally let go, moving back and putting a safe distance between them.
“So, Colten can’t get it up? Is that why you’re out here testing the waters with untouched men?” Julian asked, his voice dripping with mockery.
Katherine curled her fingers into a fist, her tone icy. “That’s not it.”
A derisive laugh escaped Julian. “Then he’s just a lousy lay? You got bored after a couple of tries, huh? Not like us back then. We couldn’t get enough—each time only fed the craving for more.”
Katherine rolled her wrist, cocked her head, and shot him a look as sharp as a knife. “It’s not like that. Just shut up.”

Julian smirked, unbothered. “So I’m not allowed to point out the obvious?”
Katherine’s eyes narrowed, her gaze unwavering as she measured him in silence. “Is that what this is about? Worried I’ll find a young and energetic virgin who makes you look bad? Or did you switch careers and open a private escort service now?”
For a split second, Julian was at a loss for words. He had long ago stopped pretending he needed a reason for his antics. Following his own whims was the only rule he obeyed.
With Julian silent, Katherine pressed her advantage, her tone turning almost sweet. “How about sending me a sample or two? Maybe you have some fresh, untapped men for me?”
Her deliberate provocation made Julian’s voice turn frosty. “Aren’t you worried your pathetic boyfriend will find out?”
Katherine shot him a defiant look. “Planning to run and snitch on me?”
Julian just let out a cold, dismissive snort.
The banter vanished from Katherine’s face. Her tone hardened. “That’s enough. Out of the car, Julian. My daughter’s waiting, and she’ll have a meltdown if I’m gone another minute.”
A vision of Jillian sobbing for her mother flashed through Julian’s mind—raw and plaintive, the sound tugging at something unreasonably tender in his chest. She wasn’t even his child, so why did her pain feel so personal?
He lingered outside the car, gaze dropping to the window where Katherine sat in silence.
“Katherine, my father found out about you and Jillian—he knows everything.” For once, his tone carried a rare note of sincerity. “He’s not doing well. His health has taken a turn, and he’s brought you up more than once. You should make time to visit him.”
Katherine didn’t need the reminder. Laurence had reached out himself not long ago, and out of respect for all the kindness he had shown her in the past, she had already promised to visit.
Still, she wasn’t naive—Julian’s errand today might have been genuine, but his motives were never that simple.
She kept her response vague, refusing to commit either way. “Let’s discuss it after I enjoy myself with untapped men. Next time you open your mouth, I hope it’s to offer yourself up.”
A shadow flickered across Julian’s eyes.
