Chapter 766:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Katherine blinked. Even now, though Jillian was resting quietly against her, her small eyes remained fixed on Julian—full of that tender, wordless fondness only children had.
“Probably because you look like Colten,” Katherine said casually. “She usually sticks to him like glue.”
Julian’s face turned even colder.
Katherine adjusted Jillian in her arms and walked off. The child stretched out her tiny hand toward Julian, torn between staying and leaving. She simply watched him with wide, uncertain eyes as the distance between them grew.
It wasn’t until they were out of sight that Katherine let out a soft breath. She tapped Jillian’s cheek with her fingertip. “Colten dotes on you all the time, and you don’t give him a second glance. But that man who recently showed up? You go lie on his chest like that.”
She was acting just like Julian—quick to turn her back on those who were kind to her.
Jillian didn’t understand a word. She murmured softly, “Dada.”
Katherine froze, then covered her mouth in shock. “How’d you even pick that up so fast? Don’t say that again.”
She was about to get into the car with the nanny when she looked inside and nearly jumped in fright at who was waiting there.
He hadn’t just shown up out of nowhere—it was Julian. And he hadn’t come unprepared. His eyes held a cold sharpness, scanning her as if he already knew everything.

Katherine’s brow tightened. “What do you want?”
Julian didn’t waste time. “So now you’re into virgins?”
She quickly shut the car door, her expression a mix of discomfort and annoyance.
Sensing the tension, the nanny said gently, “Ms. Clarke, I’ll head back with Jilly now.”
Katherine wanted to say no, but before she could speak, the nanny had already walked off with Jillian in tow.
The very next second, Julian pulled the door open and yanked Katherine into the car.
Every barrier vanished the moment Julian climbed into her car.
Katherine understood, with a chilling certainty, that no one would come running even if she screamed herself hoarse. But she refused to waste her breath or dignity on theatrics. Bracing herself, she demanded, “Julian, what is it now? What do you want from me this time?”
She remembered too well how, at his villa, he had crossed countless lines without so much as an explanation, then tried to corner her the moment they were alone. Was he genuinely unhinged?
Julian’s grip was firm as he drew her into his arms—not tender, just possessive. His face betrayed nothing. “Relax. I just wanted to catch up.”
She met his empty gaze, her voice flat. “Why drag up old drama? You’re with someone. I have a family. Unless you’re hoping for a scandal, you should be a little more careful about what you’re doing.”
Julian’s smirk deepened as he leaned in, his tone dripping with defiance. “So what if they see us? As if Colten’s going to come after me for this. I’m your kid’s uncle, Katherine. What juicy scandal could the media possibly invent? If anything, we’d end up in a cheesy ad about close-knit families.”
