Chapter 542:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“Violet, have you lost your mind?” Kylie exclaimed. “Did you forget that your mother is still in the hospital and needs your salary for her treatment? If you end up losing your job over this, how are you going to cover her medical expenses?”
“Kylie, I know you are saying this because you care about me,” Violet said, offering a small smile. “Still, everything I have right now came from Miss Morgan. If I turn my back on her at a time like this, I wouldn’t be able to live with myself. My mother always told me that a person can’t go far without integrity. There’s no way I would betray Miss Morgan.”
A deep frown formed on Kylie’s face. She couldn’t hide her worry, yet she knew there was no changing her mind. “Alright, if anything happens, make sure you come to me. I don’t earn much, but I can still help you somehow.”
Violet smiled and stepped forward to embrace her. “Thank you. You’re the only real friend I have here.”
Once she finished packing her things, Violet made her way down to the underground parking lot to meet Hayley. By then, word had already spread across the entire company that Hayley had been forced out.
Behind her back, many people laughed at Hayley. They claimed that the brighter she had once shone, the more pitiful she appeared now, and with online opinion growing harsher by the day, many believed Kaden would soon pull away from her to protect his own interests.
“Miss Morgan, Paula and Karin are gaining more attention online by the minute. The accusations they’re throwing out are getting worse. It feels like they’re trying to paint you as someone who abuses authority and commits unforgivable acts.” While she followed the online discussions, Violet grew truly concerned about Hayley.
In contrast, Hayley remained composed, as though none of it had reached her.
“Miss Morgan, how can you stay this calm? Aren’t you concerned at all?” Violet asked, her tone filled with frustration. “Should we go live and explain everything ourselves?”

Hayley continued scrolling through her phone. There was no panic in her expression. Instead, a quiet sense of control lingered on her face. “Violet, I heard that your mother has been in the hospital for quite some time. Is that correct?”
“What?” Violet paused, caught off guard. The sudden shift in conversation left her struggling to respond. “Miss Morgan, how did you find out about that?”
Lifting her gaze, Hayley met her eyes and gave a faint, knowing smile. “You work under me as my assistant, so it’s only right that I understand your situation. Otherwise, I would be no different from those heartless bosses.”
Violet reached up and rubbed the back of her head. “My mother is indeed in the hospital. But her condition is stable for now. You don’t need to worry. I wouldn’t let it interfere with my work.”
A soft sigh slipped from Hayley as she reached out and lightly tapped Violet’s forehead. “Don’t misunderstand. I’m asking because I care, not because I’m warning you about your work.”
After that, she pulled out a card and placed it in Violet’s hand. “Take this.”
