Chapter 482:

Darya immediately protested. “Don’t go. We’ve already ordered. Besides, why should you listen to Micah?”
“Mr. Cavanaugh, this is a gathering of friends. And you are intruding,” Timothy chimed in, addressing Micah directly.
He didn’t really view Thomas as a friend, but between Micah and Thomas, he found the latter to be less insufferable.
Outnumbered, Micah found himself at a disadvantage.
Thomas’s offer to leave early seemed to only strengthen Darya’s disdain for Micah’s actions.
Regardless of his unhappiness, Micah couldn’t bear to have Darya resent him even more.
He stood up, casting a deep gaze at Darya before turning to leave.
“It seems Micah still has designs on you,” Bianca commented, observing Micah’s departure. “I thought your cold shoulder would make him give up. But it seems he’s still persisting.”
“Yeah, I didn’t realize he had such thick skin,” Darya replied, rolling her eyes.
Thomas, still in the dark about the intricacies of the Micah-Darya relationship, couldn’t help but ask, “Darya, forgive me for being nosy. You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to, but, um, why did you and my cousin get a divorce? What happened between you two?”
Before Darya could respond, Timothy interjected, his voice filled with protectiveness. “Why bring up Darya’s painful past? It was your cousin who hurt her first. How dare he show up now? The Cavanaughs owe Darya, and they can never repay it!”
Darya shrugged nonchalantly, trying to brush off the subject. “It’s okay. It’s all in the past, and I’m moving on. Come on, Thomas, you’ve got to try their Lobster Thermidor.”
With Micah gone, the atmosphere at the table regained its liveliness.

Micah had cancelled his dinner plans with Reece and was in no mood to discuss business.
Instead, he sought solace in a bar, drowning his frustrations in glass after glass of alcohol.
Each sip of the strong liquor burned Micah’s throat like a sharp knife, tinting his eyes with a reddish hue.
Ryan, witnessing Micah’s reckless behavior, couldn’t help but express concern. “What’s going on with you? Every time you call me up for a drink, it never ends well.”
Micah gripped his glass, his knuckles turning white.
“Hey, take it easy, man. You know your stomach can’t handle this,” Ryan said, his loyalty to his friend evident.
