Chapter 504:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Darya shook her head. “I’m fine.”
Fatigue soon overwhelmed her, and shortly after takeoff, she succumbed to drowsiness, her eyes closing.
Micah watched Darya as she slept peacefully beside him. Her breathing was steady, her face relaxed. This was nothing like the Darya who used to regard him with disdain. In that moment, he couldn’t help but recall the Darya from three years ago, the one who had looked at him with bright eyes filled with adoration. But somewhere along the way, that spark had faded, replaced by an endless coldness.
Taking a deep breath, Micah called the stewardess and requested a blanket, gently covering Darya with it. Having lost her once, Micah now cherished her more than ever. He knew he loved Darya, despite her constant attempts to push him away. He couldn’t give up on her so easily.
As the plane continued its journey, Darya’s head lolled with the turbulence. Worried she wouldn’t sleep comfortably, Micah carefully placed her head on his shoulder. To an observer, they would have seemed like a couple deeply in love, finding solace in each other’s presence.
As the plane prepared for landing, Darya stirred from her sleep, her mind still groggy. She found herself leaning against Micah’s uninjured left shoulder, their closeness and the sound of their synchronized breaths creating an intimate atmosphere.
Startled, she quickly straightened up, creating some distance between them. It was then that she noticed the blanket draped over her, keeping her warm from the chill.
Darya couldn’t help but suspect that Micah was behind this thoughtful gesture.
“How was your sleep?” Micah’s voice, still husky from sleep, broke the silence. He rubbed his eyes and glanced at Darya.
Darya quickly averted her gaze. “We’re almost at the airport.”
Micah turned his attention to the window, where the vibrant blue sky, fluffy white clouds, and the gradually emerging fields below caught his eye. Their moments of closeness were about to come to an end, and reality was settling back in.

Meanwhile, Callan and Avery eagerly awaited Darya’s return in the arrivals hall at Hagen International Airport. They hadn’t seen her in weeks, and the McAllister brothers were growing increasingly anxious.
Callan paced back and forth near the exit, his anticipation palpable. Avery, on the other hand, remained composed, occasionally checking his phone to attend to business matters.
“Darya!”
Finally, Callan caught sight of her. His excitement quickly turned to anger when he noticed Micah standing beside her. The mere presence of Micah, a Cavanaugh, fueled Callan’s fury. Ever since Darya had confided in them about her experiences with the Cavanaughs, Callan had developed a deep disdain for the family.
