Chapter 2372:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Hearing that name sent shivers down Annabel’s spine. “He’s still alive?”
Witnessing the man’s silence, Annabel pressed further, “Have you seen him recently? Was it he who entrusted the babies to you?”
“We’re close friends. He brought the babies to me, drenched and feverish, explaining their dire condition. They had high fevers and no immediate relief seemed possible. After a long hospital stay, and the boy battling pneumonia, this ordeal nearly claimed their lives. Without Rupert’s vigilant care, you might not have had the chance to see your babies again.”
Annabel, overwhelmed by his narrative, couldn’t contain her tears.
“Thank you, thank you so much. My babies are so young and have already endured so much. Without your help, I might never have seen them again.”
Her heart swelled with gratitude, pushing aside all other emotions. Only deep sighs of regret lingered.
“Can you tell me where he is now?” she asked, her voice breaking.
The man shook his head. “Let’s not dwell on that. Your visa expires tomorrow, and you need to leave today or face deportation. You must consider your next steps carefully.”
Caught up in the moment, Annabel had nearly forgotten about her visa. She managed a rueful smile.

“You’ve been nothing short of a savior, yet I doubted you. I apologize! I’ll take the babies with me today. Would you consider coming with us?”
The man paused before shaking his head. “I’ll wait here for his return.”
Annabel respected his decision, refraining from pressing him further. She silently braced herself for what was to come.
As they exited together, Johan noticed Annabel’s somber expression and quickly approached her.
“What’s wrong? What happened?”
Annabel shook her head. “I’m going back today with my babies.”
Johan, puzzled, asked, “Have you decided then?”
She nodded firmly.
“Then I’ll book your tickets,” Johan replied.
Annabel gently declined. “You’ve already done so much. If fate wills it, our paths will cross again.”
At this, Johan’s face lit up with a warm smile in the bright sunlight.
Watching from behind, the man couldn’t help but smile, too. It was his happiest moment in days, perhaps the only one.
Thus, Annabel began her journey home with the two babies. On the plane, she sat with a baby on each side. Noticing her struggle, a stewardess approached with concern.
“Ma’am, can I offer any assistance?”
Just as Annabel was about to decline, a familiar voice chimed in from behind, “Let me help.”
Turning around, Annabel’s face lit up as she saw Johan.
“How did you…?”
Johan stepped forward and gently took one of the babies into his arms. “Knowing you were traveling alone with two little ones made us worry. I’m here to make sure you get home safely.”
Relieved, Annabel sighed.
The stewardess looked on with admiration; even the babies seemed to gaze at them with wide eyes. “You two are truly loving,” she commented.
Before Annabel could clarify, Johan simply thanked the stewardess.
