Chapter 2388:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Entering room 1504, she found Rupert alone, his demeanor clearly troubled. His head was lowered, and the depressed expression on his face was obvious.
Rupert’s excitement was palpable as Annabel entered. Even after they had settled in, his intensity did not wane. Then Rupert dove straight into it.
“I’m gutted. You really went after my company. My own company!” he exclaimed, the hurt evident in his voice.
In response, Annabel shot back, “And whose fault is that? Your aunt drove it into the ground. I stepped in when nobody else would.”
“Leave my aunt out of this. I trust her, and you just made things worse,” Rupert countered, his trust in Flora evident.

Flora had exaggerated and told Rupert the whole story. His mind was fixed on finding the reason why Annabel would take such drastic measures.
He couldn’t fathom her cruelty. She hadn’t just stood by; she had tried to annex his company.
If it were someone else, maybe Rupert could understand. But coming from Annabel, it was a betrayal he couldn’t accept.
“Do you only believe Flora and Tyson? Then there’s nothing left to say,” Annabel snapped, her frustration mounting.
She saw no point in explaining. Rupert’s blind trust rendered her words useless.
Tears welled up in Rupert’s eyes and disbelief clouded his gaze. “Is this how it is? It seems like you’ve been eyeing my company for a while. Even if this didn’t happen, you would have pulled something like this. No wonder Flora accused you of scheming to take over and grab the assets. It seems she was right,” he accused bitterly.
Annabel seethed at Rupert’s blind faith in Flora, the very person who had committed tax evasion. Rupert’s refusal to acknowledge the evidence irked Annabel, pushing her over the edge.
“Yeah, I’m taking action against your company. I can’t stand seeing it in someone else’s hands. I’m reclaiming what’s mine. And what about you? Sneaking around with reporters, then showing up at the signing like it’s all innocent. Are you trying to humiliate me? If you’re blindly sticking with Flora, go ahead. But I’ve got a clear conscience,” she fired back, her frustration evident.
With that, Annabel stood, refusing to stay for dinner.
“There’s no point in talking anymore. If you’re all about Flora, then trust her forever,” she declared, grabbing her bag.
Rupert tried to argue further, but Annabel, fed up, left without a backward glance.
Annabel was completely done with Rupert; she wanted zero contact with him.
Rupert just watched Annabel leave, boiling with rage inside. Inside the bar, it was dark as a dungeon, and Rupert was there alone, knocking back drinks.
After parting with Annabel earlier, he had driven straight there, hoping booze would drown his sorrows.
The low lights and loud chatter in the bar only made Rupert more worked up, so he ordered another bottle.
Right now, it didn’t matter if someone came over and tried to chat him up; he was in no mood for company.
All he wanted was to sit and drink.
If alcohol could lift his miserable mood, he would gladly chug two more bottles.
