Chapter 2389:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
He had no clue what Annabel was really up to. Their conversation today had left him baffled.
Annabel claimed she was saving the company, but Rupert couldn’t wrap his head around it.
If saving the company was truly her goal, she should be helping out, not trying to buy it out.

Buying them out felt like driving his company straight into a ditch.
There was no way he was going to let that happen. His company was not up for grabs.
The more he mulled it over, the more furious and confused he became about Annabel’s move.
By the time he stumbled out of the bar, he had lost count of how much he had drunk.
Feeling the wind hit him as he left the bar sobered him up a little.
Without that gust of wind, he might have just plopped down on the curb.
Instead, he hopped into his car, rolled down the windows, and cranked up some music. That lifted his spirits somewhat.
Right now, all he wanted was to hit the road and avoid making any big decisions.
He chose to shove all his worries to the back burner.
Vroom!
The engine roared to life as Rupert hit the gas, and the car zoomed off.
Police officers were cruising nearby, since the area was packed with bars and clubs. With all the partying, trouble was practically expected in these parts. Some people, after a few too many drinks, still thought they could drive, which was a real danger to public safety. It was routine for the authorities to keep watch here.
Today, as the officers on duty were in conversation, they saw a car speeding by. It was likely some rich kid out for a thrill. Speeding was breaking the rules, so they went after Rupert and pulled him over.
“License and registration, please, sir.”
As one of the police officers approached, he caught a whiff of booze from Rupert. Finding him passed out at the wheel, they were stunned. Even though Rupert had parked safely, they couldn’t risk any other mishaps.
They quickly searched his car, finding his driver’s license and phone. Seeing “My wife” on speed dial, they wasted no time dialing Annabel.
“Hey, your husband has been caught driving drunk and is passed out in the car. You should come and deal with this.”
Annabel was extremely hesitant. She had just had a big blowout with Rupert. How could she help him now?
But there was no way around it. The police were there, after all, and they needed someone, so it had to be her. She knew she would have to call in some favors to smooth things over.
Luckily, her friends were still up. If it had been any later, she would have hated to bother them.
After a few calls and some promises, Annabel finally headed to the location. When she got there, her friends had already reached out to the police.
They had let Rupert off the hook, but they gave Annabel a stern warning.
