Chapter 2390:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“Speeding around here is risky, but drunk driving? That’s the next level. Remember that. You’re lucky this isn’t just any street. Anywhere else, even with your plea, I might not have let it slide.”
Annabel had to thank the officers.
Now she was stuck trying to figure out what to do next. She thought about calling Flora or someone else to pick Rupert up. But she hesitated. Things weren’t great between them lately, and if she did call, what would she even say?
Seeing Rupert like that tugged at her heart, so she decided to take him back to her place.
As Annabel swung open the villa gate and guided Rupert inside, the effects of the booze hit him hard. It took a lot of effort to get him onto the couch.

“Ugh…”
Rupert let out a groan and then started puking.
Annabel sighed and grabbed cleaning supplies. She knew there was no point in talking to a drunk, and honestly, she didn’t really want to talk to Rupert anyway. Even if he begged her for dinner later, Annabel would probably turn him down.
She was simply over him and had no interest in him.
Rupert rambled on incoherently. He was totally out of it, as if he were in a dream.
Annabel was stuck looking after him all night. Only when he finally passed out could she retire to her bed.
All night, Annabel lay awake, restless and foggy-headed. It felt like she was in a dream too. She couldn’t even remember when she finally dozed off.
As dawn approached, Annabel found herself unable to sleep any longer. She got up and was struck speechless by the sight of Rupert’s pile of dirty clothes.
She wondered about Rupert’s current lifestyle and who was looking after him, noticing the stains on his shirt collars. Normally, Rupert’s tidy nature would never have allowed such disarray. He was someone who valued cleanliness.
However, the state of his clothes now indicated that Rupert had let himself go since their split. Initially, Annabel resisted the idea of sorting through the clothes. But after some thought, she felt compelled to clean up. After all, she and Rupert had been married, even though they were now divorced.
When she picked up the clothes, she noticed a lipstick mark. From how clear the stain was, Annabel could tell it was new.
Where had Rupert been? Was the lipstick mark from an encounter with a woman at a bar?
Annabel thought about it for a moment and then shook her head with a wry smile. It was no longer her concern. They were divorced, and Rupert’s actions were his own. If they were still married, maybe Annabel would have woken Rupert up and demanded to know what had happened. But now she had no such right.
With this realization, she quietly gathered the clothes and placed them in the washing machine.
Suddenly, Rupert woke up and stumbled to his feet, looking disoriented.
Feeling nauseous again, he seemed like he might be sick. Annabel had no choice but to place a trash can beside him. Yet Rupert grabbed hold of her, preventing her from pulling away.
