Chapter 2392:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Dawn was only a few hours away. She could easily spend the time at a hotel or simply take a leisurely walk. Either way, it would not be long until breakfast. Then she could head straight to her company or the police station to address the issue.
She had begun dealing with this matter the day before, and there were still formalities to complete. Though some rules had been bent, the issue was far from resolved. On the contrary, she had to ensure that all subsequent traces were wiped clean. Despite her anger toward Rupert, this was necessary.
Upon waking, Rupert found Annabel gone. He sat on the bed and sighed. He didn’t know what to do next. As he sighed, his expression showed a hint of hesitation, as if he were too frustrated to keep pushing forward.
Yesterday, the police had detained the car driven by the drunk Rupert.
Annabel had brought Rupert back in her own car, so she had to deal with the follow-up today.

When she arrived at the police station, she saw Rupert’s car. As she walked closer, she noticed something odd in the reflection of the glass.
Leaning in, she scrutinized the car’s interior and was startled to find it splattered with bloodstains.
“This doesn’t make sense,” she muttered to herself. “Why are there so many bloodstains? If Rupert was just drunk driving, there wouldn’t be any bloodstains. I didn’t see any wounds on him. Did Rupert kill someone? There was even a lipstick print on his clothes. Could these details be related?”
The more she dwelled on it, the more her unease grew. She quickly took out her phone and snapped pictures of everything in the car.
She assumed the police were aware of the situation, as they had driven the car back and must have seen the bloodstains, even at night. She just needed to ask the officer in charge. After taking the photos, Annabel marched directly to the law enforcement office.
She showed the photos to the officers and asked them about the bloodstains she had seen in Rupert’s car.
The officers acknowledged her concern. “We’re aware of the bloodstains, but currently, we lack evidence to explain their origin. We’d like to know if you noticed anything unusual after you took Rupert home. Any detail could help us piece this together,” one of the officers explained.
Hearing that the officers didn’t know the reason behind the bloodstains, Annabel shook her head in confusion.
She felt even more unsettled now.
Annabel would have shared information with the officers without hesitation if she had any that could be connected to the bloodstains.
She trusted that they would handle the situation fairly and knew these things couldn’t be concealed.
Moreover, it was Annabel who had taken Rupert home the previous night, so she felt a sense of responsibility.
She knew she had an obligation to cooperate with the law enforcers.
“We encountered something peculiar,” the officer began. “Upon stopping him for suspected drunk driving, we administered a breathalyzer test, which indicated only a faint presence of alcohol—insignificant, really. Rupert confessed to drinking, prompting us to proceed with a blood test.” He slid a report across the desk to Annabel.
