Chapter 2395:

That image had replayed in her thoughts many times, constantly reminding her that they had divorced and there was no going back to what they had once shared.
“Aren’t you going to ask anything?” Rupert prompted, noticing her silence.
Annabel looked up, her eyes searching his. “Will you be honest with me?”
Rupert met her gaze steadily. “I’ll answer any question you pose.”
Annabel smiled faintly and nodded. “First question. Why did you keep the children from me for so long?”

This question had burned within her since she discovered that their children were still alive. Without Rupert, it would have been impossible for the children to survive.
Rupert chuckled lightly, the corners of his mouth lifting in a small smile. “They are my children too.”
“Second question,” Annabel continued. “Now that you’re back and you know the true intentions of the acquisition, why did you still obstruct me?”
Annabel’s intention had never been to seize control of Rupert’s company; she simply sought to safeguard his only remaining asset.
However, Rupert perceived her actions as a threat, viewing her as an outsider and pushing her away.
“You will know the answer later,” Rupert replied cryptically.
Annabel made a dismissive gesture and sank deeper into the sofa. “Why did you resort to deceit, pretending to be drunk?”
Rupert suddenly laughed. “I never anticipated our journey would lead us here. Yet, in our own ways, we’ve both honored the promises we made.”
Annabel felt a wave of bewilderment. “It seems pointless to continue this conversation. Our relationship ends here. I hope you’ll respect my boundaries, as I will respect yours.”
Annabel rose from the sofa, her resolve palpable as she delivered her final words. Though a sense of relief washed over her, it was tinged with heartache.
She didn’t linger to hear Rupert’s response, choosing instead to leave his office. Once she was in her car, the tears welling in her eyes finally flowed. She couldn’t pinpoint when she had become so emotional.
The tough Annabel, who once could turn the tide, had been worn down by life’s harsh realities. She wiped her eyes, taking a deep breath to steady herself.
Suddenly, her phone rang. She glanced at the screen and saw it was the nanny. Quickly, she answered the call.
“Madam, you must come back quickly! A group of people — I don’t know who they are — are trying to take the kids away.”
Annabel’s heart clenched with worry. She heard other nannies arguing with the intruders in the background; the situation was clearly urgent.
Without a moment’s delay, Annabel started the car and sped home. Her mind raced as she drove, her hands gripping the steering wheel tightly.
As soon as she stepped inside the house, she was greeted by a chorus of wails and cries.
The sight of the ransacked home and the chaos within met her eyes. Several nannies sat on the floor, sobbing.
“What exactly happened?” Annabel asked anxiously, her voice trembling as she looked around in shock.
