Chapter 1236:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Jovanni froze, caught completely off guard. “You can’t just accuse me of that! That’s a blatant lie!”
“Lie? You were the only one running the show. If you aren’t to blame, then who is?”
“It was never my intention!” Jovanni protested, his frustration growing. He tried to explain that he’d brought in skilled fighters, and if luck hadn’t turned against him, thanks to Maren, things would have gone differently.
Still, the evidence against him was overwhelming, and nobody seemed interested in his explanations anymore.

No matter how much he argued, nothing could erase the disaster he’d brought upon the Axe Gang.
“Remove Jovanni. Consider him a traitor working for the Dark Hills. Execute him and dump the body in the street,” the gang leader instructed coldly as his final decision.
Jovanni’s face went pale. “Wait, you can’t! I didn’t do anything wrong!”
“You gave away so many territories and resources to the Dark Hills. That’s exactly how a traitor would act.”
The gang leader had no patience left for Jovanni’s pleading.
Before Jovanni could say another word in his own defense, the henchmen seized him and dragged him outside, his shouts echoing in the hallway. Moments later, Jovanni’s cries fell silent. The Axe Gang had made an example of him and tossed his body onto the street without hesitation.
Once that brutal business with Jovanni was done, the leader turned his attention back to the shaken crowd.
“We need to talk about where we go from here. What suggestions do you have?”
“We’ve suffered a major blow. Other gangs are already gaining ground while we’re still licking our wounds. If we don’t find a way to bounce back soon, our reputation will collapse. But winning back so many territories? It feels like an impossible task.”
Truth be told, it wasn’t just difficult, it was hopeless.
The room fell into a tense hush. That night, not a single person managed to get any rest.
The reality was inescapable. In a cutthroat place like Delley, expanding territory was tough enough. Regaining lost ground seemed beyond reach.
As he glanced around and saw the uncertainty etched on every face, the leader let out a weary sigh. “My biggest fear is that the other gangs will sense our weakness and come for us. If that happens, I doubt we’ll be able to hold our own.”
“Do you mean they’ll try to swallow us whole?” someone asked, anxiety creeping into their voice.
“That’s exactly it. They might pretend they want to form an alliance, but in reality, they’d just make us dependent on them,” the leader admitted, his face dark.
Everyone in Delley knew smaller gangs had to cling to the stronger ones just to survive.
Right now, the Axe Gang was in a gray area, not quite reduced to a small crew, but no longer a real contender.
