Chapter 247:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Haven Kramer POV
I had come back because I had left my quill pen on Sonny’s desk. It was the pen I used for signing, containing a miniature alchemical array for tracking—a precaution I never traveled without.
The moment I reached the door, I heard the screams and roars from inside.
I pushed the door open to see Rick Snyder tearing at Sonny’s clothes like a mad dog, trying to snatch the deed I had just signed.
My eyes turned cold in an instant.
“Stop,” I said. My voice wasn’t loud, but it was enough to make everyone freeze.
Rick Snyder slowly turned his head. When he saw it was me, a flash of fear crossed his swollen eyes, quickly replaced by a deeper greed and madness.
“It’s you!” He let go of Sonny and walked towards me as if I were his savior. “Madam Kramer! You’re just in time! This boy tried to steal your deal. Luckily, I caught him!”
He was trying to turn the tables.
Sonny, clutching his torn collar, retorted angrily, “You’re lying! You were the one trying to rob me of the deed!”
I ignored their argument, walked straight to Sonny, took the torn deed from his hand, picked up the torn corner from the floor, and carefully pieced them together.

Then I looked up, my gaze passing over Rick to the steward, Chester Perry, behind him.
“Mr. Perry,” I asked calmly, “I’d like to confirm—as I purchase the Linden Street property, who is my agent?”
Chester Perry wiped the sweat from his forehead and stammered, “It’s… it’s Sonny Sawyer, ma’am. Sonny has been responsible for this transaction from the beginning.”
I nodded, then turned to Rick Snyder, waving the deed in front of him. “Did you hear that? My agent is Sonny Sawyer. This deed, and the commission it represents, belong to him and him alone.”
Rick’s face turned ashen, like a dead man’s.
I continued, my voice low but clear enough for the entire office to hear, “And I will only work with Mr. Sonny Sawyer. If, for any reason, he cannot complete this transaction, then this transaction is canceled.”
My words were like a heavy hammer, completely shattering Rick’s last hope.
I walked to the desk and took a leather pouch from my handbag—not from the Contreras household accounts, but from my own personal reserve. Inside were high-value gold notes issued by a trusted merchant house, as good as coin.
In front of everyone, I counted out the full amount in gold notes and placed them on the desk. “This is for the property. I hope to complete all title transfer procedures today.”
A collective gasp filled the office at the sight of the stack of gold notes on the table. Everyone who had looked down on me was now dumbfounded.
