Chapter 758:

He held out a phone. “Call someone to come get you.”
Katherine didn’t move right away. She stared at him, guarded, unsure why he was suddenly pretending to be generous.
His voice came flat.
“You’ve got ten seconds.”
She quickly dialed her assistant, Beth.
Julian gave a low laugh.

“Why not call Colten instead? If he saw all those marks I left on you, what do you think he’d do? Would he come charging in here and try to kill me?”
Katherine handed the phone back without answering.
“You really get a kick out of this pathetic routine, don’t you?”
“Routine? Isn’t that what’s waiting for you tonight?” Julian tilted his head, his voice laced with cruelty. “Or don’t you and Colten sleep together? Does he even bother taking your clothes off? What—was that whiny little kid of yours made in a lab?”
Katherine met his eyes and gave a cold, sharp smile.
“Are you really standing there, hoping I’ll say yes?”
Julian didn’t flinch. He stood there, unreadable.
Now recharged and no longer drained, Katherine leaned in closer, her clear eyes trained on his face.
“Julian, you keep bringing up Colten. Do you wish you were him?”
Julian gave a crooked smile.
“Have you ever seen anyone eager to trade places with a failure?”
Katherine’s voice was steady.
“Is that right?”
Their words meant little, yet tension buzzed between them.
It had been some time since they’d last been this close. Somehow, she had picked up new habits in the meantime. She held his gaze, each breath deliberate, stirring something wild in him.
Julian had been restraining himself too long. He pulled her in and kissed her hard with unrelenting force.
The impact nearly threw her off balance. Instinctively, she clutched at him for support.
She didn’t push him away. Instead, she responded immediately, her arms circling his neck, her kiss just as fierce.
Julian teetered on the edge, overwhelmed by her, his eyes burning with frustration.
Her kiss had changed—refined, confident. Who had she been practicing with? But who else would it be?
Jealousy surged through him. He crushed his mouth to hers again, rough and possessive, as if claiming her would silence the doubt.
Before her breath gave out, Katherine pushed him away, drawing in quick, desperate inhales.
She looked at him, a cold smile lifting one corner of her mouth—tempting, cruel.
“Even animals know when to follow instinct,” she said softly. “But you, Mr. Nash—just a bit of spit, and you’re already losing your mind. Maybe stop calling other people failures and check your own reflection first.”
A wild urge flared in Julian—a hunger to claim Katherine, rough and desperate, to lose himself in her until neither of them could breathe.
That reckless longing surged through him, and before he could stop himself, he pulled her close, crushing her to his chest and kissing her with a feverish, biting need.
His senses drowned in desire—until reality slammed back into him. She had only just given birth.
