Chapter 761:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“Mr. Nash, Ms. Clarke said she damaged your car. She asked us to deliver this new one as a replacement. When should I collect the old car?”
Julian didn’t even look up. He tossed the keys at the driver, his expression unreadable.
Julian believed Katherine had offered to pay so quickly because she simply couldn’t stand the idea of her scent lingering in his car.
Well played.
He really was irritated by that milky sweetness clinging to everything about her. Julian eyed the new set of car keys with growing disdain. With no interest, he tossed them to Cayson.
“You take it.”
Cayson laughed under his breath.
“I appreciate it, Ms. Clarke.”
Julian’s eyes narrowed.

Cayson immediately corrected himself.
“Sorry—thank you, Mr. Nash.”
Meanwhile, under a nanny’s attentive care, Jillian had perked up, her strength returning, her appetite back.
Katherine nursed her once. But before long, Jillian began to fuss again.
This time, Katherine could tell something was off. She wasn’t getting enough. Jillian’s gaze lifted to her mother, her bright eyes shimmering like gems, wide with curiosity. They wandered, then stopped, fixing on the marks along Katherine’s chest. Her tiny hand reached forward to touch.
Katherine’s face flushed. She gently covered Jillian’s eyes, letting her feed again in the quiet dark.
Still unsatisfied, Jillian began to cry, and Katherine had no choice but to get dressed and ask the nanny to prepare some formula.
The nanny blinked in surprise.
“Jillian usually doesn’t even finish it. What’s going on with her appetite today? Did the shock affect your supply?”
Katherine cleared her throat and kept her hands busy.
“Possibly.”
Before the woman could press further, she shifted the topic.
“Have the family doctor step inside. I need to speak with her about Jillian’s health.”
Elsewhere, Julian was doing some investigating of his own.
Since their breakup, he had gone out of his way to avoid anything related to Katherine. But today was different. For the first time, he had deliberately searched her name.
When he saw that Jillian’s last name was Clarke, his expression turned grim.
“Why isn’t she using Colten’s surname?”
Cayson, standing beside him, offered his thoughts.
“They haven’t gotten married yet. It’s possible she just wanted a baby, without intending to stay with him long-term.”
Julian didn’t like that theory.
“If she wanted better genes, why pick Colten?”
Cayson answered without thinking.
“He’s not inferior in any way—smart, attractive, good genes. And Ms. Clarke? She loved him. He was her first.”
Julian said nothing.
Cayson glanced at him.
“You’re not offended, are you?”
Julian’s reply came cold and clipped.
“I’m not.”
“Great! I thought you’d be annoyed.” Cayson went on. “But honestly, I’m just guessing. There could be another explanation.”
Julian raised an eyebrow. After all these years, Cayson could sometimes read his mind.
“What is it?”
“She might want each child to have a different surname. Maybe the second one’s meant to carry Colten’s.”
Julian stared at him, dead silent. If murder weren’t illegal, Cayson would already be dead.
Cayson asked cautiously,
“You’re not angry, are you?”
“Get lost.”
“Right away.”
